^^^Lakers bought out Brown, so he got his while he'll also get paid by the Cavs if they hire him. Money is committed and gone, unfortunately.

If that's true, then it's a sunk cost. We shouldn't be worrying about it.

i think we can all forget about replacing dan tony, he's staying no matter how much we hate it and how wrong a fit he is for the team

there's no way the FO will fire him and not only have to pay 3 coaches at the same time, but also admit that they blew it yet again with hiring a coach

With Kobe probably out for most of next season, laker brass probably are happy with any warm body in the coaches chair next season. I doubt they pay anyone else.

D'antoni & Nash finding their Phoenix magic might be our best chance to win without Kobe on the court. Absolutely no reason to make a change now.

if MB takes cavs job are Lakers off the hook $ ?

Postby hollywood swinger on Sun Apr 21, 2013 1:07 am

If he takes cavs job and is coaching another team does that void the obligation the Lakers have for paying him?
If so it could impact coaching decision in future if front office doesn't have to pay MB if they decide or want to fire MDA.

I'm fine with Mike coming back next year... what happened to the talk though about getting a defensive minded assistant coach? With Eddie Jordan gone, there'll be a need for an assistant to fill in. Hopefully that'll be someone who can work with the team on defense and give Dwight what he's looking for.
In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.

There was some talk of Nate McMillan this summer with D'Antoni...

That'd be nice.

How about Kurt handling the D as an assistant with a wink wink behind closed doors with Mitch that he will take over when they finally fire this one trick pony. :man1: :man1:

If we could get Rambis, I think that could go a long way towards convincing into Phil taking some role with the organization.. I'm sure he's pissed at Jim but if we play this right he could finish his career in a Pat Riley role for us. We just have to get someone to convince Jimbo to let go of the reins. Who am I kidding, that won't ever happen. Would love to have Rambis back either way & it makes a ton of sense.

No. This is pissing me off. Don't tell us Mike D is coming back next season. At least wait until his playoffs performance. My goodness. This guy singlehandedly cost us Kobe for the next 6-12 months.

Nate is the favorite for the Detroit gig, so I don't think we'll be able to convince him to be the assistant for a lesser coach.

I'm pretty sure most of the staff will be gone if whether or not MDA is kept. The reason being is that D'Antoni wasn't able to choose who he wanted as assistants, but will most likely be given that opportunity next season. Same goes if he is fired, whomever replaces him will get the chance to bring on their own guys.
I should get an assist for that. It's an intentional pass to oneself, so it's an assist. That way people can't say all I do is shoot.

So far the brother coaches (With Mike and Dan) hasn't worked out well. But, both the Van Gundy's are loudmouth's so that would be interesting to watch on the sidelines. :man10:

because people are actually capable of fixing misunderstandings. Kobe/Phil come to mind

Howard's former coach also let us in on the fact that they still text each other from time to time, mainly discussing how Howard played after a good game or Stan wishing his former pupil good luck prior to game time.

^ Both Dwight and SVG have repeatedly said that their past issues are all water under the bridge. They'd be open to pairing up again in the right situations.

I would take SVG so fast over MDA it would make your head spin.
Vitti uttered three words that surely applies to how Bryant made two free throws on one leg, walked off the court on his own and processed his rehabilitation plan amid the pain, frustration and tears.

“That’s really cool.”

I like what SVG does on the court, but can you imagine him coaching Kobe?

He's a good coach but he just loves to yap. I don't know if Kobe could respect him. He seems like he could get under players skin too.

Maybe if Stan brought in JVG as an assistant to neutralize him and call him out (bc we know JVG loves to call people out) then it might work.
