consider? what is there to consider? Hill is done for the year isn't he? I would hope this is an automatic thing. We have a dleague last pick of the draft as backup C. I know Pau is the main one but given the time he's missed so far this season, do we really want to rely on him?

What would be the downside to applying for it? Just that Jordan Hill will need to be out all season? If he's already given for that, we should go for it.

the article says we already have the remainder of our MLE at 1.59 mill and a trade ex at 1.42 mill so not sure what additional 1.79 would do. you can't combine them.

Kenyon Martin is the only person who comes to mind, not sure if he's a locker room cancer.

can it be added to a trade when pau is traded?

i have no idea how all of these exceptions work, can this be combined with a trade exception?

No, it can't.

There is no real downside. Even if Hill somehow manages to come back, he can perfectly play. It is true that if he comes back, the exception expires, but that won't matter if we already signed someone with it .

So yeah, there really is no reason for not applying to it. Worst possible outcome is that we don't use it and we let it expire (it expires on March 15).

It is not a lot of money maybe, but it's still more money than what we have now to offer.

The downside is that it's still money you're responsible for even if it's a cap exception.

I was wondering about names...and to be honest I think Kenyon Martin, scumbag though he is, would be a great fit for what we're trying to do.

Barnes was scum bag too but every team needs one of these duche to do the dirty work, we got to many nice guys on this team. Even Peace doesn't do much with his crazyness anymore.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. They're worried about spending the extra cash.

But hey, if 1.7 gets you Kenyon Martin, you do it. We need the depth right now just to try to make the playoffs.

good point but even if it was Pau it wouldn't help much since I dont think there's any FA you can sign thats worth half of Pau contract. You can't use this medical exemption as a trade piece (at least I dont think you can).

Actually... yes, you can, but the player you trade for must be on the last year of his contract.

I would like to see Terrence Williams with the Lakers. I think he would thrive under D'Antoni's offense. But he won't be avaible until March. He's currently playing in China and the CBA Playoffs end in March.
