Great game from MWP, refs absolutely screwed him with BS calls in the end, but still a great game. If I were him I'd be pissed that my reputation continues to get me BS calls, but what can he do I guess.

Ron was ballin today. Seriously, where would we be without him, especially that 2nd quarter? He played great. 2 bogus fouls at the end.

'Atta boy Ron Ron!

I thought he had a great second quarter offensively (arguably the player of the quarter for either team). And despite Melo's 3rd quarter surge, he was fantastic on the defensive end. Melo might've finished with 34, but I don't think anyone in the NBA could make him work harder for those baskets. Melo made the mistake to make most of the day a wrestling match against Ron and lost every time he went that route. Kobe finished with the same point total, but his came so much easier, it's no contest.

It's such a joy to see him healthy and light footed, doing his thing against some of the league's best once again. His energy for the entire game helped. The dust up with Chandler woke up a crowd that had fallen asleep temporarily. One of the beat writers tweeted (forgot who it was) how funny it was that the Staples crowd no longer gasps when Ron hoists up a 3 anymore, because unlike last season, you actually expect him to hit most of them.

Still trying to figure out how playing physical ball got him fouled out. Those two he got whistled for when he was wrestling with Melo were bull, and then the touch foul on the Melo J that sent Ron for the bench for the duration of the game was especially bull crap.

Can't say enough about the way he played today. IMO he was our best player today. If you look at the stat sheet you might think he got lit up by Melo but his D was terrific all game. Melo got hot in the third. This could've easily been a 40+ game for Melo if we didnt have Metta. His offense has been money as well. But to me the most important thing he brought was the fire and passion. How he ripped the ball from Chanlder on the jump ball situation and got in his grille was awesome. We have plenty of nice guys on this team. We need that kind of grit from Metta.

 Definitely woke the crowd up with that scrap with chandler.

Amazing game in every way.

His defense was spectacular on Melo, but the stats won't show it. Carmelo just hit some really tough shots in the third quarter, which was the only reason the Knicks even had a lead.

On another note, the team has showed some solid poise in this win streak thus far. The win against the Bobcats even though we were down 18, coming from behind and winning a close game against the Warriors and now today -- trailing by 8 when Melo was red hot and coming back to win.

Artest's effort has helped keep this team afloat and is very inspiring right now.

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

Kobe has gone on record so many times saying that Ron is the only other guy who always brings the intensity. There's just no way that MWP gets shipped off.

I'm so glad we didn't trade him or buy out his contract. There's been a lot of mumbles the past year that the team has considered both options during at least one juncture and there have been many fans begging for the same over the past year (a lot of them on this site, as well). I really don't think the Lakers can win another championship without him. Nash and Dwight clearly add a whole new level of talent to this team. But the heart, fire, passion, tireless effort, and the toughness necessary in May and June all runs through Mr. Artest. When 100%, Dwight is the best defender in the game, but he doesn't have a nasty bone in his body. Sometimes you need to roll up your sleeves, get in the mud, and wrestle...that's what MWP brings.

The dude's effort was game-changing. His D, his hustle, his tenacity, dropping 3s.. The game's HERO no doubt.
