Sweet a guy as he is, @MettaWorldPeace will be waived via amnesty by Lakers to save about $30 million, barring some late change.

Well it says it "may" signal that we'll keep him, I don't think anyone knows at this point, 19 mil is a lot of savings. I would think if they could find a couple cheap replacements he's still gone.

Edit: and there you go, that's too much savings to pass on for what he brings. I have no idea who will be our SF's, but I'd like to see CDR as one.

was just about to post this as well.

Just means we absolutely have to sign someone to play SF, because there will be no one else. Lakers FO I am sure know this and will make the necessarily adjustments.

@KevinDing: Lakers will sign one for minimum salary or move Kobe to SF. “@CallMe___Kratos: @KevinDing so we have no SF now”

ONE? How can we go months with ONE SF on our roster until Kobe gets back? God I hate 'Antoni and small ball. I look forward to Nash/Blake/Meeks or Blake/Meeks/Morris lineups. :hurl:

Long shot but AK47? Starting spot with a ton of playing time. I know it's a long shot before the comments come along.

i dont want to lose him. he always brought it and kobe trusted him a lot with being a leader on the D. physical limitations at his age but he brought it more than our younger players. i understand the salary thing and how much the lakers would save...BUT who are we gonna sign who is better?

makes me believe we'll sign sasha and move kobe over. but that will wear on him alot throughout the season guarding SF's who are some of the best players in the entire league at that position.

Does it really look like we are trying to sign "better" players right now? We are in salary dump, full on tank mode.

Each passing day with every transaction we're getting deeper and deeper into tank mode, I wonder how Kobe feels about this. I hope he understands if he wants No.6 this process is his best chance

Would that be crazy if we end up with LO..Ron's childhood friend?

Ron matched Khloe with LO and in a week we might see LO take Ron's job

I am so confused about this team's roster. :man10:

I know they're basically giving up this season, but they know they need at least two SFs right? I'm betting on Douglas-Roberts and Raja Bell.

I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see a drop in SF production this year. MWP was declining and giving some fresh blood a chance at that position is going to be better for us not only this season, but going forward.

He was downright awful at times last year.

I'm glad we got rid of Ron, but do we have to make this tank job so obvious?

Who we getting with the 1st overall pick?

time to bring back ariza i guess...

MWP delivered some big moments in the playoffs in 2010. basketball decline happened, but i think he's a happier person than years ago. best of luck ron/metta.

I couldn't agree more.

“@forumbluegold: I will miss Ron's intensity & competitive fire. By all accounts a fantastic teammate & cemented a place in Lakers' lore w/ his 2010 game 7.”

One thing you have to hand it to World Peace is that he brought it every game, every play. He battled even if his body betrayed him. Bryant loved him for his intensity and that battle ready attitude instead of being a giant goof off..

I'll always remember Ron Artest the Laker as fondly as I can. The man was a beast, a hard worker, a warrior. He went to war for his teammates every single day and never backed down from a challenge. When the lights were on, he produced.

Metta World Peace I'll erase from my memory quickly and easily.

I really wonder how Kobe is taking this. Despite the limitations in his game, Kobe knew he could get in a foxhole with Ron and they'd be fine.

Oh well, 2015 season is only 1 1/2 years away.

I'm pretty sure Kobe knows exactly what's going on... right after the Dwight meeting, didn't management stay longer to talk to Kobe and Steve? I'm guessing they discussed their plan if Dwight didn't return.
In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.
