Great game on both ends. Kept us alive in the 3rd with his scoring and did a superb job on West.

I honestly didn't even notice David West out there tonight, and usually he kills us.

It usually tapers off closer to the playoffs and we see Ron get into my-brain-is-semi-functional mode. Hopefully it starts soon as in tonight was a good start point.

I hope this game buys him some good will around this place for way too many people here eager to have him gone and thinking he is of zero value to us. Let us know when you find the 1st string small forward that can replace him and do better with the terrible situation the new CBA has put us in. So glad we still have this talented Hulk on the team. Warts and all.

IMO he's Indy's best player (George is too inconsistent and seems to fade a bit in big games), a very solid PF, plays great on the block and on the pick and pop. You'd think, with our usual defensive issues plus Dwight in foul trouble, that he would've killed us, but no, MWP completely took him out of the game.

he put the load on his back and really was aggressive on both ends. he played very well on west and was doing pretty well in the paint draw fouls and hitting some jumpers. good game and good to know he can step up when kobes out

MWP has the balls to step up when it counts. He has been pretty much putting it all on the line all year. He makes dumb choices but he puts it out there on both ends each and every game.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Metta played really well. The main problem with him is that he never looks to pass. He is a dead end on the offensive end. Once he gets it, he goes into dribbling mode or chucks up a dumb shot, especially in transition.

I really wonder how stupid a human being can be or why nobody tells him to calm down. If he plays within himself, he can always be an asset to any team. He is physical, strong, leaves it all on the floor, good teammate. Its just the antics on offense that make you scratch your head.

Actually West always has that ugly look on his face, just like Perkins.

I think Metta did a solid job on him but West got good position on many of his shots. He just couldn't convert. Some of it was Dwight coming over to help.

Last night was a great example of why Metta still has a lot of value as a player. He does not back down or get intimidated. That is such a critical intangible. I've always thought the same of Blake, even when he wasn't able to function in the triangle. They just go to work.

Metta is still going to jack up dumb shots, but sometimes a team needs that a few trips down the court to just get something up in the air. Metta can actually create a shot for himself. It may look like an arthritic seizure when he does it, but it still has a chance to drop or be a putback.

I actually thought he looked to pass more than usual, that doesn't say a lot but it caught me by surprise. The fast break where he passed it to Dwight for the dunk, he caught it in the post on another play and kicked it out for the open 3, and he fed the post a couple times from the 3 point line.

He's been great the last two games. He's such a strange guy... when he feels important he performs, but when he doesn't feel necessary it's like he acts out. It's like he does dumb things for attention or something.

What the H?? Another great game from him tonight and he gets a couple of backhanded compliments instead of huge props so far. Come on the guy is flat out balling.... give it up for him. Not saying he doesn't give us head scratching moments and frustration but for the fans of CL that's par for the course for all our guys. Just like Kobe.... we're never satisfied. :jam2: :man10:

I said he had a great game :man10:

Artest is maybe the player I identify with the most as far as how I play, so it frustrates me to see him perform the way he does when he's off. Right now it's NOT that he makes the shots... It's that he is making good DECISIONS.

No complaints - Didn't do his usual spot up, shuffle sideways and attempt a long two-point attempt and that works just fine for me.

Before the season I was really hoping he'd limit the long jumpers/threes and use his lighter (but still very strong) frame to move in and get shots closer to the basket. Alot of people were excited about the open threes that Metta would get playing with Nash, but wide open long jumpers has been the one constant during Ron's tenure as a Laker so its not anything new.

Even though he'll still find a way to blow a layup that no NBA player should and he's almost guaranteed to get whistled for an offensive foul (rightfully so or not), Id still much rather he played this way at all times....take a few threes if you must, but use your strength and size advantage by playing closer to the rim.

Good things will happen.

IMO Metta can have this type of game because he gets more post up opportunities with no Kobe or Pau on the floor. Now he can go in there and use his bull like strength to play bully ball (see what I did there :man1: ).

He's there when you need him. MWP is a bigger asset to this team than a lot of fans give him credit for.

He made big plays offensively and defensively to keep the Kings runs in check.

It was a vintage Ron Artest performance tonight. I didn't think he was going to miss a single shot. That's so foreign to think, much less to type...not thinking that MWP the missed 3pt FG specialist would miss a shot...from anywhere. He was getting some great bounces on his shots. Usually for whatever reason, his shot takes a bounce for the worse. The rim is usually his worst enemy, not tonight though.

I've been very impressed with how he's stepped up with Kobe out. He has even been looking for his teammates (ie. the touch lob to Dwight) instead of being the black hole on offense. Also since Kobe's been out, I've noticed he's been taking advantage of the other team having a mouse in the house with more regularity.
