By the way, props to Ron Ron for locking up another talented player:

Luol Deng - 6 pts on 3/11 shooting with 2 TOs

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

Ron is playing top 3 defense in the league this season.

Here's an interesting stat:

When Ron Artest is on court, Lakers are +9.4 better. When he's off, they are -13.1. That gives us a net of 22.5. That's even higher than Kobe's +20.4. Oddly enough, Fisher is the next highest at +9.3. Bynum's is at +4.1. Our whole bench is negative.

The odd thing is, if you were a casual fan watching the game, you wouldn't notice what Ron Artest brings really. You wouldn't notice that Luol Deng struggled in the game and that Ron did a great job. But what he brings is so great for this team, I love it.

Ron Artest has been playing some superb bball. Every guy he guards seems to slowly disappear in the game. He is highly skilled at obstructing the oppositions offensive flow and he often wreaks havoc in the passing lanes. I really enjoy watching his work.

He's a master of his art.
Derek Fisher is the heart and soul of this team- Kobe(Black Mamba)
When we win it, it's going to taste much sweeter knowing I played with the injury- Andrew(Lionheart)
Tomorrow is another opportunity to accomplish great things- Pau(Pauwer)
Ron Artest is the Game 7 MVP- Phil(Zen Master)
Q:Pierce says series isn't coming back to LA? A: [Mean Stare]- Derek(President)
If we don't win the championship, it's my fault- Ron(Tru Warier)

With The Ronald in the fold diffusing the opposition's best scorer and should Bynum achieve a more than reasonable impact on defense...the Lakers point differential should increase. Individually, Artest is doing what is expected of him. He does not have to force or carry the offense as he did in Houston so a majority of his focus is on the defensive end. I really would like to see Artest get more assertive on offense when either Bryant or Gasol is on the bench but that will come in time as he gets comfortable. Right now, he knows his place in the pecking order currently running fourth.

More than that, he's thriving in that role. There hasn't been a single peep about him being unhappy with his opportunities offensively. There hasn't been any problem really at all with Ron as a personality on this team or in the locker room. He's proving that he can fit this team like a glove and I love it.

As for his offense, I like what he's doing right now. Pass first, shoot when it's there. I don't mind that right now. Let Gasol, Bynum and Kobe get their shots going and then Artest can find a little offensive niche for himself. I expect him to be an offensive leader with the second unit when he gets the chance.

Add Luol Deng to the list of locked up players. Seriously, at this rate we should just update the OP with players he's completely shut down over a game. Luol Deng has been playing very good basketball so far this year.

Ron's defense has been simply awesome to watch.

^^^ He absolutely destroyed Deng. He became a non-factor completely. Artest is the man, period.

Also notice how many more quality possessions Ron had on offense with Pau in the game. Pau really looked for Ron and got him the ball plenty.

But yeah, Ron's D was fantastic. It's what I had expected really.

Artest is superb in using his wide mass, strenght and quick hands in bullying, crowding the taller, lighter players into submission not to mention be intimidating. He can also do those successfully against the bigger, heavier, "star" quality 3s BUT ONLY if the zebras allow him. It will be interesting how he fares against Anthony when Denver visits Staples.
