He's having a great season and I really like his slide to the bench where he fits perfectly into the 6th man pocket, it's very much like when Lamar moved to the bench but still played comparable minutes to a starter regularly and was still utilized in important situations. Metta is taking to the role perfectly. I'm also loving his three point shooting. I've often griped about Mario Chalmers that while he isn't historically great three point shooter overall, Chalmers seems to hit 3s literally at the most vital and crucial times. Metta has been similar for us, though it doesn't always show when it's against a large deficit anyway, but it just feels like almost every 3 he hits is a huge sigh of relief.
He shut Carmelo down so hard for the first half, and while Melo got white hot in the 3rd quarter, it's still awesome to know that Metta can and will still lock down premier scorers.
But I think the best thing is that he just looks so much better running the floor than he has since joining this team. Before he'd give you some good minutes but he was just sort of comical to watch at times, but now he's looking like a serious basketball player again, and reminding us that yes, he has been a 40% three point shooter before, yes he has been a 20+ ppg scorer before, yes he's been DPOY...etc.
The more this team starts to pull together and solve the (let's face it) kind of long list of issues they've had this year, the more seeing this type of play from Metta will really pay off.
