Considering you got injured immediately after the offseason where you had 4 months to rehab, probably never.

I like it.. Keep him under 10 games played so that if he retires his salary doesn't count against the cap for next season.. You can't count on him to stay on the floor long enough to build any trade value, so the best case scenario is forcing retirement.

Nash is clinging to dear life on whats left of his career at the teams expense. I realize as a player you dont want to go out this way but if you cant get healthy after 4 months and barely a few games into the season with limited minutes to begin with whats gona change going forward?

Nothing is going to change. He's just proud and unable to let it go. Fish was exactly the same, and for all his leadership qualities, he was never as good as Nash. It's difficult to admit it to yourself that you're done, when you're a legend. Basketball defines his life. I totally understand him, but I'd still like him to retire for team's sake -- and his own sake too, because he has some nerve damage there. As an athlete he's ancient, but in the "real world", he's still a young man. No need to risk the future for what... 1 year of basketball?

He's rich and can easily transition to the world of coaching and scouting. He's very smart and articulate, his shooting is elite. He could help countless young players learn proper shooting mechanics. Everyone knows this young generation could use some help with the fundamentals. The job is fun and it pays well, too. I'd love to keep him on this Laker team, he is a very positive influence and a leader.

Sad how delusional Nash is. If you don't think being on the court and actually playing games is sustainable, freaking retire then.

Nash is done….. really has been since 2011 when his play began a steep decline. He's got about 9 Million reasons to hang on as long as possible I guess.

Only if he meets the requirements for a Medical exception. That's a pretty hard hurdle to jump.

I'm sure in the background there are some discussions about forcing that or a buyout. I can't see taking his contract into next year with a chronic condition like this for a 40 year old. It will come to a head sooner or later. He'll get one more chance on the floor then I think it will be time for ownership to move one way or the other.

Not that it was expected his return was around the corner, but Steve Nash definitely won't play on the trip -- he's going back to Vancouver

What a freakin joke. Seriously what is he killing himself to come back to, a sub-.500 team that he makes worse? Medical retirement.

He's not killing himself to come back, he's taking pictures with Drake and drinking beer with Jay-Z. He's collecting checks knowing very well that he can't last more than two weeks.

Doc is talking about the pics Nash posted I believe partying while the team was on the east coast road trip and Kobe was training for his return to practice.

Nash also was in Canada posting pics for Thanksgiving while Kobe and the rest of the team all had thanksgiving together, so it's not like he is bonding with these guys off the court and he's not practicing or playing on a court
