Out again. Dude can play when he's healthy. He's just never healthy anymore. Too bad.

What does nerve irritation mean? That the leg is broken again?

This was Nash's 9th game. If he plays in fewer than 10 and retires for medical reasons the Lakers could get his salary off books next year.

if he can't see this as a sign to retire...nothing will convince him.

Please Nash, you gave it a shot and all it took was one hard hit for this, do the right thing.

Agree. No one can say he didn't try. Sometimes Father Time gets a decision. Sometimes it's a knockout.

Still undefeated.

He's been decent these last two games, but it's not BECAUSE of him we're winning. It's because of Blake and because of Farmar. Nash right now isn't doing a whole lot more than Marshall could do.

I want him to end it now before he hurts himself again. End on a decent note. Why not come back to LA and play one more game, do your best, and leave it there? Before something bad happens?

*cough*.

Damn it.

Oh brother, really trying to get to that 10th game. Sure he'll be fine, until the next time it gets hit. And I was trying so hard to be nice and respectful to the guy after last game. :man10:

I posted this in Gameday, so I'll just paste it here. My official stance is this:

I am probably one of the biggest Nash supporters on the board. I've always wanted him on the Lakers. I appreciate his efforts, he clearly loves the game, and just wants to help his teammates. But this is not working at all. He can only make it worse for himself. Maybe he is finally going to realize it now, and I think most fans would love to have him back as an assistant coach, shooting coach/tutor (probably the best option) or scout. Classy guy, but his body can't handle the NBA game anymore.

Basically, he gave it a try. But he is not going to be OK. He can't play more than 3-4 games without getting hurt.

he just needs to realize that his body simply can't take it anymore

we all knew he'd get injured again sooner or later and if this isn't enough to get him to realize this then i don't know what it could take. forget about NBA career, these injuries could really effect his health in the long run as well. he just has way too much mileage on that body and it's not like he hasn't tried all he could to come back and stay healthy

Truthfully, at 40, no one should be playing in the NBA, unless they are coming off the bench in the playoffs. And if you can't play more than a single digit string of games in the season because of multiple injuries, its safe to say your body is done at this level of competition. There are good pick up games at the local rec center.

Nash, it's time.

NOw that he's played enough games to not be retired this season due to injuries, he's injured again for the rest of the season.

Sure glad I'm not cutting the checks for all these injured guys.

He can still medically retire, if you play 10 you can't, he's at 9 right now.

These so called reporters keep giving wrong information ...

If he plays under 10 games , his salary wouldn't count towards the cap THIS SEASON

I think that's how most people here have been looking at it, if he retires before 10 games then his salary doesn't count against the cap next season.

^^^^ this season , not next season

Credit to Larry Coon CBA FAQ

There is one exception whereby a player can continue to receive his salary, but the salary is excluded from team salary. This is when a player suffers a career-ending injury or illness. The team must waive the player, and can apply for this salary exclusion beginning:

If the player played 10 or more games1 in the current season, on the one-year anniversary of the player's last game.
If the player played fewer than 10 games1 in the current season, 60 days after his last game, or the one-year anniversary of his last game in the previous season, whichever is later

Kind of confusing. So if that's it for him, he won't count against the cap for 2014-15, right? What if he plays more than 10 games but retires after this season - any possibilities how we can get him off our cap for 14-15?
