LeBron/Kelly is the best PF duo in the league! :jam2:

If so, Nash can do whatever he wants this season in my book.

I wonder if it would be some form of tampering or something if the FO offered Nash an Assistant Coaching position for next season if he declined next season's pay.

If we trade Pau we don't even have his Cap hold.

Kobe- 23.5 million
Sacre- 900,000
Marshall- 900,000
Pick- 3 million

We're looking at roughly 32 million dollars to spend. That's crazy. We could literally sign a max FA AND Lance Stephenson. Bring the rest back from this season that we want and baby we got a stew going.

Marshall/Farmar
Stephenson/Henry
Kobe/Young
LeBron/Kelly
Embiid/Sacre

:man9:

Don't forget minimum cap holds to fill out the minimum roster spots, that eats about 4M of our space up.. But still.. We definitely have a ton of flexibility.

Nash retiring after this seasons?

http://www.lakersnation.com/lakers-rumors-steve-nash-set-to-retire-at-the-end-of-this-season/2014/02/09/

I don't know how the rules work on a player who retires before his contract is completed. Would he then come off of our cap?

Out again. Dude can play when he's healthy. He's just never healthy anymore. Too bad.

What does nerve irritation mean? That the leg is broken again?

This was Nash's 9th game. If he plays in fewer than 10 and retires for medical reasons the Lakers could get his salary off books next year.

if he can't see this as a sign to retire...nothing will convince him.

Agree. No one can say he didn't try. Sometimes Father Time gets a decision. Sometimes it's a knockout.

Still undefeated.

He's been decent these last two games, but it's not BECAUSE of him we're winning. It's because of Blake and because of Farmar. Nash right now isn't doing a whole lot more than Marshall could do.

I want him to end it now before he hurts himself again. End on a decent note. Why not come back to LA and play one more game, do your best, and leave it there? Before something bad happens?

*cough*.

Damn it.

Oh brother, really trying to get to that 10th game. Sure he'll be fine, until the next time it gets hit. And I was trying so hard to be nice and respectful to the guy after last game. :man10:

I posted this in Gameday, so I'll just paste it here. My official stance is this:

I am probably one of the biggest Nash supporters on the board. I've always wanted him on the Lakers. I appreciate his efforts, he clearly loves the game, and just wants to help his teammates. But this is not working at all. He can only make it worse for himself. Maybe he is finally going to realize it now, and I think most fans would love to have him back as an assistant coach, shooting coach/tutor (probably the best option) or scout. Classy guy, but his body can't handle the NBA game anymore.

Basically, he gave it a try. But he is not going to be OK. He can't play more than 3-4 games without getting hurt.

he just needs to realize that his body simply can't take it anymore

we all knew he'd get injured again sooner or later and if this isn't enough to get him to realize this then i don't know what it could take. forget about NBA career, these injuries could really effect his health in the long run as well. he just has way too much mileage on that body and it's not like he hasn't tried all he could to come back and stay healthy

Truthfully, at 40, no one should be playing in the NBA, unless they are coming off the bench in the playoffs. And if you can't play more than a single digit string of games in the season because of multiple injuries, its safe to say your body is done at this level of competition. There are good pick up games at the local rec center.

Nash, it's time.
