It makes sense for both sides. Philly wants to be terrible without paying anybody and we would like to get rid of Nash for nothing in exchange.

Yeah but why would Philly want him in the 1st place?

I agree; Stephenson is perfect for this team. He wants to have more responsibility. He plays D, shoots the ball, and he's young too. In combination with Lin, Young and Randle, that's a recipe for success, and the team would be gritty and entertaining. Suddenly, the future looks bright.

Stephenson isn't a RFA, he's an unrestricted free agent.

I'm confused at your getting Nash would require a sign and trade part?

Sorry; moving Nash to GET Stephenson - as I thought he was RFA. I see he's not. That makes it a bit easier.

Sooo just dropped into the Nash thread for first time in days. Holy crap batman….we're getting rid of Nash and bringing back Stephenson? :jam2: :jam2: :jam2: :jam2: :jam2:

:man12: Is this total pipe? Yeah all of a sudden the team is looking not so bad if we pick up a big or 2 with a pulse to fill out the roster. I want to hear we have signed Kelly…… :man2:

So I like the Stephenson love here. I want this kid bad. We need a bad boy, too many softies on this team. A core group of Randle, Stephenson, Lin, Clarkson is a very bright looking future and some serious attitude. We need a change, badly. I really hope the FO is trying to get Stephenson. Is there any rumbling out there about us trying to obtain Stephenson? I mean, other than Lakers fans wanting him haha.

There's been some talk about a Dragic for George Hill swap.. I wonder if we can give Phoenix a 2nd rounder or 2 to let us in on that & send Nash to retire in Phx.

Prolly have to overpay Stephenson ... which I'm not in favor of.

Also not in favor of Hill for Dragic now that team is paying Lin bookoo bucks to play PG and you're also talking trading big for small there.
I shall be telling this with a sigh

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

No no.. I should have clarified.. The rumor was Indiana trading George Hill for Dragic, not Jordan Hill. I just threw Nash + picks in the mix because of his ties to Phoenix & them also having cap space to absorb him.

:man10: Dragic for Hill? That would be nearly as lopsided as Kwame for Gasol.

Phoenix wouldn't do that trade even if we included Randle. Dragic alongside Chris Paul and Curry was arguably the best point guard in the NBA. He put up 20 points per game last year on 40% from 3, and 50% from the field. Those numbers put him in rare company historically speaking.

F that, if we can get Dragic I don't give a rats butt bout Lin. Lin is a dam stop gap and a backup, Dragic would light him a new one. Besides both these 2 could play together since Dragic is capable of adjusting his game like he did with Bledsoe.

So how much under the cap are the sixers? Is there any legit sources indicating that sending Nash to Philly is possible?

You don't really need a "source" really. You just need to know Philly's cap room... and yes they have enough room... they have A LOT of room (about 25 million dollars even if they pick up every single non-guaranteed contract).

there is absolutely no way any team in the NBA will want anything to do with nash or his contract

why in the world would any team give up even a draft pick or cash for a 40 year old who is literally broken and at most will play 30 games if lucky

I think the proposal is the other way round... WE give the draft picks in exchange of someone taking Nash (and his contract).

Mitch how is the health of Steve Nash........

(Long pause)

He's doing good.

What a waste of 9 million and a roster spot.

Real answer: he's got the relative health of an ant with a broken leg in the anteater exhibit.

"He's got the proportionate strength of a paralyzed spider!"

In all seriousness, I think we should just cut Nash since we are eating the contract anyway. Even if he did play some, we're most likely not going to the playoffs, so why waste precious PT on an old gator with nothing left in the tank.

Waive him (so he can go to a contender and maybe win an Adam Morrison ring, or do a farewell tour in Toronto) and use the extra roster spot as a trade buffer for the deadline...then, if it doesn't get occupied in a deadline deal, sign a young prospect for the rest of the season and see what happens. Bada Bing, Bada Boom, Betty Boop!
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.
