This is what the Sac Bee reported in reference to the season opener:
LeBron James, the most celebrated rookie since Shaq was a baby boomer, will make his NBA regular-season debut against the Kings in a nationally televised game Nov. 5 at Arco Arena.
Though the official 2003-2004 schedule will not be released until early next week, The Bee has learned the Cleveland Cavaliers and Kings will meet in their season openers for a second consecutive year. Several other teams tip off the previous night.
Perhaps as a form of payback -- or, more likely, because of Kobe Bryant's legal situation -- the league opted for a Kings-Cavs matchup at Arco instead of a Los Angeles Lakers-Cavs game at Staples Center.
So I guess that the league will be stupid enough to open the season with that BS. I really hope they don't. Not only will a Lakers-Cavs opener rake in more viewers, but it will also set records for most watched season opener EVER. If the NBA wants to bank in on this, they better take the Queens out of this picture. I mean what would you rather see...King James going against the CERTAINLY Webb-less Cowtown Vlade/Miller, Peja, Bibby led Queens or the POSSIBLY Kobe-less Hollywood New and Improved Shaq, Malone, Payton led Lakers.....the L can't be that stupid..could they?
