Dwight was looking at his jersey like he was about to piss himself... and we all know how that ended up :man9:

So great to hear after all the "I'm not talking about next season, only focusing on this season" bs that Coward fed us all year. Nick Young isn't a superstar but at least he understands that being a Laker means something.

Not the same, Young was born in LA, grew up a Lakers fan, played his college ball in LA at USC, he is all about the Lakers and I can see him staying as long as we want him here. Dwight's from Atlanta, no real emotional ties to LA.

@KevinDing: Nick Young is wearing No. 0 with Lakers to "start from the bottom again." (And because Farmar told him he was taking No. 1.)

Farmar claiming his number and Young obliging, nice.

I think I'm really going to like watching this season. This kid is going to be a headache every now and then, but I think he's really enthusiastic about being here and I think he really wants to be a Laker...

I'm really excited to watch him and Jordan out there.

He was when he was drafted. We had a guy named Smush here who had #1. Then when Smush left, Farmar got #1 back.

He wore #1 his last season here at least. Basketball Reference says he was #5 '07-'09 and #1 in 2010. I can't remember if that is accurate or not, but the site is usually pretty accurate.

Yeah, Farmar was number 5 for a few years because number 1 was taken. Then when it became available he switched to 1 which is what he wore at UCLA

I was hoping we would have gotten him as a backup 2 a few years ago, but the clippers, as usual, got in the way and signed him. I'm glad he is here. Although, if he went from a $6MM one year deal to a $1.5MM one year deal, then that has to hurt.

More/Different quotes:

KEVIN DING ‏@KevinDing 3h

I asked @NickSwagyPYoung if he should be penciled in as starting Lakers small forward. "Should be," he said.

KEVIN DING ‏@KevinDing 3h

Young is motivated to maximize Lakers playing time on "biggest stage" to "get my name back out there and get the respect I deserve."

Man.. The Dwightmare nearly made me forget what it's like to have players that love playing for us.. Seeing Young, Kaman, & Farmar all take huge paycuts to be Lakers is re-assuring that we'll be just fine.. We just made the mistake of trading for the most indecisive superstar the league has ever seen.

I'm into it. I hope he comes to this season with a chip on his shoulder. He really can be JR Smith if he wants to. Scoring in bunches and creating problems for the offense. I hope being around Kobe helps his brainpower a little bit.

Although, I hope he's not using this as a springboard to get paid elsewhere next year.
In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.

Really? I hope that's exactly what he's doing. :man10:

It means he's going to play his butt off: see J.R. Smith 2012-2013.

Well, I just meant I don't want him to be a rental... like Mitch said, hope he's here for the long haul (that is, if it works out).

I absolutely feel that Young & Farmar both are going to work their butts off because they know there is a chance of staying with the Lakers when they rebuild in 2014... Smart move by both IMO
