Even though this guy is a chucker, It makes me happy that he takes pride in wearing purple and gold. We need more guys like that.

I'm reeeally interested in what kind of relationship Nick and Kobe will have. I can see Kobe taking him under his wing, and you can bet Kobe is going to go hard at him during practice. Hopefully Nick is up for the challenge, and i'm willing to bet he learns a lot from 24. The talent and athleticism has always been there, he just needs it all to come together.

I'm just glad we have some young decent players again.

I too like the athleticism and youth (comparatively anyway) but the horses are over the hill on getting him to change from the frustrating player he's been in the past. Hoping that he'll fit better in MDA's free flowing offense where being less than smart Basketball wise plays right into it......

For what its worth Doug Collins praised him last year for listening. Now I'm not saying he changed a lot but it was Wright, not Young hat stayed in the dog house for attitude

when they lost Dwight, some said it might have taken some of the luster off of people wanting to come to the Lakers...Young and Farmar taking paycuts just to play here is exactly what this franchise needed...players STILL find this team as a glamor destination

This. Plus hopefully CDR plays solid enough in the Summer League so we can sign him.

Getting guys that want to play here will hopefully lead to better chemistry inside the locker room! A lot of people discounting us but we essentially have the nucleus that won 2 championships. Kobe and Pau, with the addition of a good glue guy like Farmar who has been there before hand has put up solid production playing for the bench mob, I think people are ignorant to discount us so quickly. Season rides on Kaman and Nash being productive and Nick Young providing a spark and athleticism to an aging club.

Farmar claiming his number and Young obliging, nice.

Both points have to be good for team chemistry huh. Good stuff. I have a feeling we are going to really like Nick Young and I believe he is a 'steal' of a signing.

maybe D-Fish comes back now as player/assistant coach and takes his #2 jersey and the Lakers 'flop a set'

So who's going to play 3 until Kobe is back if Young isn't moving there until Kobe returns? This offseason is far from over for us. I'd love to know the options Mitch actually has.

Of course they do, because Dwight is not bigger than the Lakers, and his actions/opinions surrounding his free agency only diminishes him as a person.

Just so its clear, I'm officially on the Nick Young bandwagon :jam2:

he's young, atheltic, long, can shoot, can score has clearly been told upfront by the Lakers (Mitch in the presser) that he needs to improve his all-round game - and if he does - he has a shot at a long tenure with the Lakers. what's not to like at this point. volume shooting maybe, but I'm on-board

Really? I hope that's exactly what he's doing. :man10:

It means he's going to play his butt off: see J.R. Smith 2012-2013.

Well, I just meant I don't want him to be a rental... like Mitch said, hope he's here for the long haul (that is, if it works out).

I absolutely feel that Young & Farmar both are going to work their butts off because they know there is a chance of staying with the Lakers when they rebuild in 2014... Smart move by both IMO

Not just that, but there is a selfish motive involved: they wanted and now have the opportunity to show what they can do so they'll get paid next summer. Nothing wrong with that...

Kaman..... oh.... wait......

Kaman does offer a jumper the bigs lacked and he's more athletic than Sacre. I also think they were prepared to pay Clark that much, not any more, but Kaman like money and just use Hill as reserve 5 and Earl at 4

i think were gonna like him. he has the right mentality. hes a very gifted player. and he loves LA more than anyone we've signed. I feel sometimes we'll get annoyed with his shot selection or inefficient games. but i think over all he'll prove to be a great signing and a player were gonna want to continue as a laker when we rebuild next season.

i wouldn't be surprised if he and farmar are here longterm at about 3 million a year. they may very well comprise a contending bench.

assuming bigger moves come to pass in 2014

Nick Young is wearing number 'zero'?!! Now I know he's gonna be a good player for us the last laker player to wear '0' to my knowledge was Soumaila Samake one of the greatest Lakers I've ever seen.He always played with a smile on his face because he knew he was better than everyone and he had some of the sickest dunks I've ever seen. Unfortunately his career was cut short due to wrongful drug allegations. Nick young's got big shoes to fill wearing that number but im confident he will because he's a baller and he wants to be here unlike that no good mother ___________ Dwight Coward.
