Nick Young Discussion: Torn Thumb Ligament, Out 8 Weeks (59)

The Lakers have inquired about L.A. native Nick Young, according to agent Mark Bartelstein. They had interest in Young last summer as well

Guess that's one way to get young'er

I don't care if he's a chucker. We need someone like this off our bench. If not him, someone in that mold.

Farmar and Young off the bench would give us that change of pace play that we haven't seen from the fossils we've been collecting over the years.

Agreed. He's an idiot, he's not a good passer, he's not a good defender...

But he shoots the ball and maybe with the right tutelage he can be a good fit here. But I have to assume he's WAY out of our price range?

Interesting. He can shoot, is young, and can score in spurts. He'd be a nice addition...

I'm on board with this.

To take a page from Bill Simmons' book (literally), we need an "irrational confidence" guy. It's been years since we've had an irrational confidence guy. Come home to LA, Swaggy-P

I guess he's a free agent... I didn't even know. If he's available for some amount less than the mini-MLE (as in... part of it) then I'm in for it. We need a stupid guy to go out there and think he's able to drop 30 on any given night.

I'm not a big fan of Nick Young, but if for some reason he'd take the minimum of course I'd want a guy that can come off the bench and go off on any given night.

I'd take him gladly. You can definitely see a mold we're targeting tonight in contacting all these free agents.

This.
We need more guys who can create their own shot, who can push the ball, who can drive to the rim. I think, for the bench, Young fits that role. And he's got a nice upside IMO (good skills, young. His issues are all maturity-related)

But Nick is a shooter. Metta learned how to shoot. Still learning IMO

he can get hot quickly and really be a good spark off the bench. could be a good 6th man for us. especially if Kobe isnt 100%. just doubt we sign him bc we signed meeks. i'd think we would get a SF who can shoot the 3 like the other guys weve shown interest in.

This is the one that has me most intrigued. I believe this is the type of player that Howard wants to play with. Someone who is kind of dumb, but talented. Not to mention that he'd be a source of offense most nights that we just don't have. Someone who can not only hit a shot, but create one.

Maybe with the right mentoring and situation Kobe could turn him into a better basketball player and not just a scorer.

If we can't get Monta for the mini-MLE, he's right up there with JR Smith.
