Maybe not like Ginobli or Odom who you can let close games and were fringe all stars, but still a higher level 6th man player.

Yes. Get him a good coach and he'll be an excellent 6th man. Right now he's just running wild swaggin because Pringles popped and once you pop you can't stop.

For the right price I wouldn't mind having him back next season, but it really depends on who else we sign this offseason.

How do people not want this guy back for like 3-5 mill a year? He is awesome.
Every time I begin to ask, "Is he really as great as I think he is?" ...He proves that he is.
Every time I begin to wonder...He proves it...That is why I won't lose hope in him.
You know who I am talking about.

exactly. we all want another championship level team and having a 6th man is a key part of that... Nick can and should be our guy.

he is the only reason to watch. Even worthy and B scott said they would love to have him as a teammate, that is pretty good praise.

^^ I like Nick Young a lot. He's a fun player and he does the 6th man thing well, providing energy and scoring off the bench. That said, for 3-5 million a year I'd prefer to keep Jordan Hill. I just think we are going to be in need of bigs and Hill is a keeper to me because he can play the 4 or 5. Of course if Antoni is still here there's no reason in re-signing Hill because he won't play. So there's that . . .

Don't even get me started on J. What Phony has done to him this season is beyond disrespectful. It was at his peak that screw job decided he couldn't continue to put up those numbers and keep his energy up. That led to a minute reduction then smaller role, then being replaced all together.

I'd also throw money at Jordan. Both he and Nick and very valuable bench players in the NBA, they want to be in LA (new coach though), are just hitting their primes, and provide some stuff that could be a huge asset going forward.

The good thing about not really having any free agents to go after this year is that we can give Nick and Jordan 3 year deals in that $4-5MM range and front load them now. I'd offer both 3 yrs/$15MM and pay them $8-9MM each this coming season. That leaves plenty of space for Love next year.

I've thought that we should take this strategy also with frontloading deals for Young & Hill to save money for next summer.. But after posting the idea someone posted information stating that the most you can frontload a contract under the new CBA is 15% of the total contract. We can still do it, it just isn't going to help a whole lot.

N.Y. is exactly what we have been asking for for the past few years. A guy off the bench, that can create his own shot and score in bunches. Perfect fit :jam2:

Young converted a four-point play in the third quarter. He has six of the Lakers' nine four-point plays this season, both franchise records.

Kevin Ding @KevinDing:

Nick Young's 40 points tonight marked the NBA high for a bench player this season. (Jamal Crawford had 37 for Clippers.)

Man, if Nick Young comes back, we'd have a sick bench next season. Farmar, Young, Kelly, Kaman and toss in X, Meeks or Bazemore. Rad.

I really think our only chance for getting Nick back is that he really really wants to be , and continue to be a Laker.

Are we going to offer more than 1 year? Is he really valuable enough to take up 3 to 4 million of cap space for 3 to 4 years on a team that is essentially rebuilding from scratch? He's fun to watch but having a top bench scorer is only really important if you are a team on the brink…… which we are not.

Too bad we didn't sign him to a longer term deal….. we'd be able to trade him rather than showcase him and get nothing back if he leaves or have to sign him to a much more difficult contract for a rebuilding team.

Since we don't have any draft picks, the only way to build a team from our standpoint is to get guys in free agency.....

At the free market price. If we can get him on a home town deal at 4 million a year, heck yea you bring him back. We are just going to be paying for one later on anyway, probably at higher price to boot.

You have to start building a team somewhere. Bringing back Young/Hill/Kelly would at least give us a bench going into next season.

Hill we can skip. Farmar/Young off the bench is already decent enough. Pair em with Bazemore and a few cheap physical bigs, that's a solid bench imo.
