I think at first he'll struggle bc he'll be playing the 3 with a new team but he'll figure it out. Not like Sessions who came in a straight up balled before Brown made him useless

hopefully it caries over as a LA player now

The Clipper game was much more impressive. 30 on us, isn't that impressive as we didn't play a lick of D on the perimeter last year.

Before Bynum. Bynum complained about sessions pushing it. They would have done better with a middle ground of Sessions as sixth man

2/9 three pointers!? Ouch, better get back in the gym start practicing some 3's, Nick. :man9:

And dang, you can't breathe on Arenas in that league, that's a lot of free throws.

Yeah, Dave McMenamin just posted this today from The Drew (maybe the league was founded in 2011?)

Sign Arenas to the 15th roster spot after we get Sasha/Lamar...couldn't hurt until training camp/ preseason at the very least.
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.

Just saw and had a short talk with Nick Young at the Beverly Center about an hour ago. He was super nice, was very happy to shake my hand and say hello and he seemed incredibly excited to be a Laker. I think he was out shopping with some family or friends. Couldn't have been any nicer. ...nobody but me seemed to recognize him in the mall which was weird. But very glad to have him as our new Laker.

No joke. That's what training camp and preseason are for, giving green young players and washed up vets a chance to show anything better than what is already on the roster before paring down to the regular season roster. Honestly, I would rather give Arenas or Michael Redd a shot than some Gerald Green or CD-R kid who can't put the ball in the basket to save their life. We tried that route, now we need to try something different for this off season.

We'll have a great opportunity to vault into real contention in the next few off seasons, but that doesn't mean we can't explore any and all available options for this transitional off-season. We're spending money to try to compete the best we can (for the price the Busses are paying, there's no other legit course of action) now, so leave no stone unturned IMHO.

Also, FYI, Arenas isn't 50...he isn't even Kobe's age. You don't lose that much ability that quickly. He's less athletic now, and a serious character risk (not to mention a habitual gunner) but don't think for a second that the man can't play basketball (or at the very least score) at an elite level anymore just because of a few seasons of mutual disinterest.

I stand by what I said, Arenas is done, his game fell off the edge of a cliff like many former stars like Marbury, Hardaway, and most recently McGrady. I wouldn't even waste a training camp invite to find out what his play in Orlando and Memphis already showed us 2, 3 years ago. We don't need a chucker that has lost his one ability, scoring, it's kinda sad, but it's true, it happens. We have tried the aging or ancient star route as well as the take a chance on a D-Leaguer route, neither worked great. We could just as easily bring in a younger guy still has something left, that plays hard on offense and defense, and can play multiple positions in Sasha Vujacic though.

He's playing as well as Young against the same competition.....

I don't put much stock into this Drew League, for Arenas or Young. Do you seriously put much stock into these games, as far as judging NBA talent? I really would doubt that. That's all I'm saying, I believe Arenas is done and don't put much into this game. If I was going to I'd point to the fact that he got 16 free throws, that's not happening in the NBA.

No... not really, Arenas looked done the last time I saw him as well.

I disagree... not sure what im disagreeing with but I adamently do it...And its Jims fault too.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.
