This was an excellent signing. I whiffed on Young in my free agent preferences list due to his past reputation, but upon doing further research I really liked what he did in Philly last year. I think he's matured a ton, and he's a good fit since he can score and play defense. I'm not sure he should be used as SF full time, and the team might need to address that, but in terms of talent in a vacuum, this was awesome.

We have 11 guys on our roster now, and I'm assuming we don't re-sign Morris what with Nash-Blake-Farmar now being in it. Minimum is 13, and Mitch likes to carry that for flexibility. I'm assuming we might sign one more guy, preferably a backup small forward, but I'm guessing the team likes CDR and want to give him a leg up for that spot. Not a big fan of CDR (read scouting report) though.

I'm not worried about it, I'm pretty sure Young can play SF at 6'7, and it's been suggested Kobe may play there as well. We do need to add at least one true SF though, but again, not worried, I think we will.

Kobe won't take the court until mid December barring setback and Young isn't a SF. Hope,we get someone who can play SF on the defensive end.

Young is a great signing for what we paid however he's right there with JR Smith in BBIQ.

Seriously this was a very unlikely signing. :man10:

This. Both comments. So glad he signed. Welcome Nick Young to the Lakers, the starting SF is yours if you would like to step up to the plate and claim it.

They need to get ahold of a big SF in the 6'9 225-235 mold. Young and Kobe (eventually) can hold the small ball SF role but a what about the other? Somebody mentioned JmsJohnson which is a solid option.

I'm sure we'll Keep Blake and move him up to the backup SG. I really want to move Meeks.

Talent wise this is like paying a dollar for an ounce of gold... Great signing, hopefully he gets it going and continue to have that swagger.

Look at him... That's the face of ecstasy, there will be rough patches for sure but I'll give him the most leeway of all the players in the line up.

He seems very humble and ready to prove people wrong about him.

He has had a JR Smoth esque career. Offensive minded player with questionable decision making.

If he can learn from Kobe, I think he could pan out to be better than he has already shown. There's a lot of potential for guys like Young. He will be exciting for sure.

I don't disagree with any of this. I have said ideally that Young is our starting SG until Kobe returns, Meeks is backup, then he's Kobe's backup, finally allowing Kobe's minutes to go down some (and makes Meeks irrelevant). I've also said we need a real SF. I only said Young can play SF keeping in mind who our coach is, and how he likes to go small and doesn't really care about defense.

he has wanted to be a laker his whole life and took WAY less money to play here as such a young player. i think he'll be willing to listen and learn from the vets bc he knows what he can gain from them. seems to actually like dantoni too. i think it'll be good to have him especially since kobe might not start the season

He's a chucker who plays poor defense but so what?

At that cost, the bench could use some swag :jam2:

Young is exactly the type of player who should try and get his money as much and wherever he can. Yet, he's taking less to come home. That's awesome.

While I'm still bitter about Morrow, this really makes things better.

I swear, if we could turn Blake/Meeks into a starting SF (Ariza) and then sign Nate, CDR, and Lamar to a minimum, I'd be stoked. Hell, throw in Bell too.

Pau/Kaman/Sacre
Hill/LO
Ariza/Bell/CDR
Kobe/Young
Nash/Nate/Farmar

I could really enjoy that team, win or lose.

He makes JR Smith look like an unselfish player ...

Career :
4053 FGA , 421 assists :man10:

I think he's going to be a disaster under MDA green light system... well at least we have another player who can have big nights here and there

Could care less. If Young was a PG, then I'd care. But he's not.
