November Schedule; Where do We End Up?

November Schedule; Where do We End Up?

Postby dwighthowardsdad on Sat Oct 19, 2013 1:13 pm

So, with the regular season winding down and the question of Kobe still looming on his return, I was looking at the Lakers Schedule in November; I wanted you guys to predict where we will end up? What's your gut feeling? Do we struggle while the players try to find to their defined roles on this team and MDA tries to find successful rotations that work?

I think we end up going 8-9 through these first 17 games. Ideally, I would be more of a 10-7 start, but I just don't see that happening. I think we get better as the season goes along but with so pieces to this puzzles that have yet to be filled out, I think it's best to go with somewhat of a rough start.

I made a copy of the schedule below beginning with the first two games in October and the rest of November. Please share your thoughts/predictions on where we end up and why?

7-10 would be my guess. Wins @ dallas, vs atl, vs minny, vs NoP, vs det, vs sac, @ det. Maybe @ washington, but a croos country flight vs a better and so far healthy wiz worries me. This team with its youth should play well at home but road games vs even similarly talented teams could be losses. Hope I'm dead wrong. Would be glad to eat crow

Wow, the november schedule is brutal.. I can easily see us losing the majority of those games, probably 10 or more.
However, like TheOp said, we don't know whether Kobe will be back, and we don't know a lot of things, like the definitive rotation pattern, the way our guys will respond to pressure, D'Antoni's plan, etc..

I think we'll go 5 - 12. The competition is tough the first month and Kobe will miss some of those games.

Realistically this probably about right. There are only a couple clear cut worse teams on that list and if Kobe isn't even 80% this is very realistic give or take a win or 2.

We... end up losing about 10-11 games IMO. Not great. It depends on what Kobe is going to do, obviously.

If everything goes well and our chemistry is good, I could see us losing "only" 8, but I am optimistic in general.

I have no idea how we are as a road team, that's what makes it harder to guess wins/losses, last year we sucked. I also have no idea when Kobe will be back. Assuming he's out for November, looking over the schedule I only see 5 times I can say I actually expect to win. So worst case, 5-12, I only see vs T-Wolves, Pelicans, Pistons, Kings and at Wizards as should win games. I see maybe, or possible wins vs Warriors, Hawks, at Mavs, at Pelicans, at Pistons (though that is always a tough one). If Kobe is back sooner and close to his old self at all and we're a better road team than expected, hopefully we can stay closer to .500, but I don't know. I expect us to be better but that's a tough early schedule, mostly the road games, I can't see winning that first emotional game at Houston or at Denver , Golden State or Brooklyn.

7-10 or 8-9.

Too many western conference teams. Only 5 of the 17 teams are from the leastern conference, and only 4 of them are stinkers. Brooklyn is pretty good. We really need Kobe to beat these western conference teams.

No clue, but it's going to be ugly. Only Laker fans are optimistic, but we'll be lucky to play .500 ball next month.

The team ends up 7-10. Where's the defense on this team? Any team that has a quick penetrating point guard will eat us up. Having Gasol at center is making all the teams lick their chops because it's an open door to the rim. The offense in unpredictable, with shooters that are off and on, and a 40 year old guard that can't penetrate and 2 other that are mediocre perimeter shooters. Lucky if the team wins 37 games this season.

It's way too early to tell, we have not been playing close to full potential in the pre-season since Mike has been monitoring minutes A LOT, but I like that from him. This pre-season is getting me excited about the season though, the play, more than the scores that are meaningless.

I don't think we can win 7 games in a row during the whole season, let alone during the opening month. I can see us go 6-11 :man5:.

I don't predict Denver being as good as everyone thinks they'll be this season. They're now Iguodala-less and missing their long time coach. There's going to be a transition period there. Early in the season on the road? I think the Lakers have a shot there.

If Kobe is ailing at all we will have a difficult time winning more than 8 IMO. Most of these teams beat us last year with the big pain in the butt and a healthy and resurgent Kobe.

The timing of the schedule should come into play as well with our older folks..... the road trips will be a degree more difficult because of it. The younger guys tend to underperform on the road as well. While pre-season has it's pressures it's far different than playing on the road representing the Lakers than it is in the pre-season. We'll see but I'm not holding my breath.

I expect this team to much more "watchable" than last years and I find that there are more things to root as well but the reality is that unless there is a whole lot of things that go right for us we're a middle of the pack team. We can win the tough ones and get blown out by a last place team.

no less than 5 wins and no more than 8 wins. my initial gut feel after looking at that schedule and expecting kobe to be out most if not all of november was 7 wins.

i'll be spending extra time on the college game this year, expecting that we'll have a higher pick than most years. plus we actually have a pick

I just don't think it's possible to gauge where we are until we see Kobe out on the floor and see what he's capable of. Without Kobe we'll be lucky to win anything close to half of our games. Actually probably with Kobe we'll be lucky to win half our games. Without him it'll probably be closer to a third of our games.

But honestly, I'd rather he just sat out as long as possible, until he's somewhere close to 100%. It just isn't worth it for him to play if he's not right. And D' Antoni doesn't have the ability to limit his minutes. Last year he just ran Kobe into the ground. Or allowed Kobe to run himself into the ground. It doesn't matter which, because the results were the same: Kobe playing about 45 a game on a busted wheel. Then his achilles gave out. The danger of him coming back not totally healthy is that he may blow out that other achilles. De ja vu all over again as they say (in redundancy land).
