Let's work out a sign and trade with maybe 3 to 4 team.. I feel we don't need Asik..or J.Lin... maybe Parsons will be better. Trade with Atlanta for J.Smith.. and try to get some good role players..

Have you not been following anything?

Parsons was part of the Dwight pitch. He's not going anywhere. They are likely to sign Dwight outright - no S&T. Ask and Lin are being dangle to Atlanta for Josh Smith.

Why would we want Josh Smith?

Still over the cap..... Next summer we have cash to spend....., not many to spend it on but we'll have it.

This is IMO a HUGE roster. The optimistic are saying we will be fine, and in time, we will, but this season...ouch. Losing Howard gives us ZERO extra money to spend, we lose him for nothing, we still only have minimum contracts and one mini-MLE to spend or split between two players. So pretty much, we have to hope we can sign decent players to minimum contracts to fill our roster. I can even see Morris being brought back. :hurl:

As of right now we have under contract

Nash
Blake
Kobe
Meeks
MWP
Hill
Pau

and we have an offer to Sacre which I'm sure he'll take, and we most likely keep Ryan Kelly now. That's 9 players, and word is MWP might be amnestied. So we have to fill at LEAST 3 spots to just have the minimum, but usually we like to go with 14 so that's gonna be HARD. What we do, I have no idea, we have to hope some decent players want to come here for a season, or we have to pick up whatever scraps are left after a few weeks. Some people laughed at the idea of Sasha coming back, but that might actually be a GOOD signing compared to what else we can afford.

IMO our best true option is to trade Pau for multiple players, and Nash for multiple players, that is one of the only ways I can see getting some decent, hopefully young talent to LA.

IMO only older players, close to D-League level players, actual D-League players, players that always wanted to be Lakers, or players that want playing time and we have that to offer. If we amnesty MWP, we have no SF's, so for a player out there that wants a starting job, or a lot of minutes at backup, those players might jump to come here. We've also only got Hill and maybe Kelly at PF, a cheap one of those might want the minutes there. Also only have Pau and Sacre at C, if Pau is even gonna play C, so again, maybe a big out there wants to come here cheap and get playing time and prove himself.

We also need a SG, Kobe will be out months, and Blake is not a SG, he's Nash's backup. Both of them are injury prone seemingly now, so we can't afford to be counting on Blake as backup SG, we need to get a real one. Anthony Morrow is someone we're rumored to be interested in, don't know if it's realistic, but I'd love that now. And again, I'd also take Sasha back at backup SG or 3rd string PG, because you just KNOW that Nash and Blake are going to miss some time at some point.

The Lakers mostly have themselves to blame for this, after Stern for nixing the CP3 deal that started all this. The new CBA is designed to hurt us, and we had no knowledge of that when Kobe's contract that paid him 30 mil for his last year was made, so there's not much to be done about that. I don't think we needed to extend Pau for as much as we did though, I think 15 would have been more reasonable than 20. Aside from that, we got Nash just too late, 9 mil isn't bad for younger Nash, but now it's gonna kill us.

Aside from that, the main issue to me is they went all in on Dwight, when you could tell Dwight was not happy here, and never wanted to come here in the first place (wanted Brooklyn). We should have traded him for the best we could get at the deadline instead of risking losing him for nothing. Jim gambled and lost, and we got nothing for him, and no cap room to make up for his loss. Just a bad move IMO, everyone in the world could tell Dwight was not happy here, yet the Lakers acted like nobody ever leaves LA and were too cocky.

At this point, I would absolutely love to sign all 4 of these guys. I don't know much about Ellington, but his stats aren't bad. Delfino and Garcia though, sign me up right now.

I'd take every single one of them and I'd say "we play fast, we play lose, and we're going to have fun while we win a few games! Come on down!" :man10:

Seriously though, what do we do? We do what the Lakers do. We sit back and wait for a home run pitch and Mitch smashes it out of the park. We've still got a 20 million dollar expiring and while I expect the Lakers to keep him, there's going to be a firesale or two or three this season and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Lakers trade away Gasol for a good young player from a team looking for a high pick. The Lakers would value talent in hand over talent in the bush.

We're going to be fine. We don't want losers here who can't handle everything that the Lakers have to offer and we have a LOT. There's going to be plenty of kids who want this city and want what we have to offer. There's going to be plenty of kids up for the challenge and when they arrive, we'll know it.

It might not be this year, it might not be this summer, but be patient. We're the Lakers and we're going to come together now more than ever.

Bringing the old band back sans Bynum is honestly the only legit option at this point. Start with Odom as fat as he may be but we really need a PF. Need a backup for Blake cuz Nash will break down and miss games at some point next year. Might as well be Sasha... or Farmar... or even Fish! :man12:

Man it would be really funny to see Odom and Sasha back here playing with Kobe and Pau. I say why not, Odom is fat and older now, but I'd have a laugh and enjoy some nostalgia seeing the old gang back together for a lost season. In reality there probably aren't a lot of better backup PF's out there that we can afford that are better than Odom.

Actually, i would also like to see that. Get Sasha and Odom. Fill the roster with some cheap guys. See if Farmar wants to be a Laker again. I would even offer Bynum something, although Oden can give you the same bad knee for less money. Fun!!

Also, we could get Cardboard Phil and glue him to the bench. He doesn't need to do anything except look cool.

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not, but I was actually being serious. This season is now an "F it" season. Everyone is coming off the books at the end of the season except Nash, and I would think most, if not everyone we sign will be getting one year deals (2 years at most for the minimum). So why not, bring back some old Lakers, let them run and gun like 'Antoni wants, we have absolutely nothing to lose and nothing to gain from this season.

Yep, I vote for Farmar and Sasha, maybe Odom and Barnes.

At least this group has chemistry, which as we saw, is NOT over-rated.

sign me up as well. let's get ariza also since the shine is off that penny.

i would be 100% okay with this, even if it didn't go anywhere. it's like seeing your favorite band from a long time ago reunite for a new tour.

Well I believe it was reported that Farmar can't get out of his contract overseas, and Barnes went back to the Clippers, but the other 2 are available. Maybe a trade for Ariza could be pulled off, I believe he's an expiring too, I'd love to see that.

I think Barnes resigned (or has the intention of) with the Clippers.

At any rate I agree, bring back Farmar and Sasha on one year deals and then find two SF from D-League and call it a summer.
