Now that Mitch has finally redeemed himself by acquiring both Gary Payton and Karl Malone, what has to happen next. Is LA through making more deals or is this the likely roster for next year?

If we could add a backup center for Shaq or bring back Madson or Horry I'd be satisfied.

Where's Mark Madsen & Samaki Walker?

And as far as Sumaki goes....We don't need him anyways. He gave us nothing last year and doesn't deserve to come back this year. Madsen though gave 110% and deserve to come back.

I don't think that the Lakers are done playing with the roster yet.....

I expect they'll bring in another big man back-up and another veteran combo guard / swing man. (who can shoot the 3)

Walton will definitely stay, but I reckon the rest of the bench are all possible trade bait.

Robert Horry might be willing to come back now since they picked up players that he would be happy with. When he was not re-signed last week, he said that the only thing that would make him consider returning to Los Angeles would be the Lakers signing people who he respected. He said if the Lakers had to let him go in order to sign guys like Malone and Payton, he would have done the same thing. But if they were to sign guys like PJ Brown or Juwan Howard, he wouldn't have really considered it because he feels those two players are at about the same level as he is. So, maybe the Lakers can talk Rob into returning!

As to the other two guys mention, Madsen and Walker, we most definitely do NOT need Samaki Walker to return. Madsen worked his butt off last year and, I believe, finally proved himself as a valuable asset to the team.

In an NBA Team Roster there are 12 active players.

This is our team signed and will be signed as of today, July 10, 2003.

Starters

Gary Payton
Kobe Bryant
Devean George
Karl Malone
Shaquille O'neal

Bench

Derek Fisher
Rick Fox
Slava Medvedenko
Kareem Rush
Jannero Pargo
Brian Cook
Luke Walton

As you can see it totals 12 players.
Madsen and Horry are not signed. If they are signed, one of the existing players in the bench has to be released or placed in the IR. I see Rick Fox starting the IR at the start, so we can probably sign one more player.............whether it is Madsen, Horry, Piatkowski, Pippen or anyone else.

In a way we can have 13 players in contract, but one has to be in the injured list, the same way Jelani MCcoy was our 13th player in the IR, a couple of years ago during our title year.

Yes, we know that there are 12 active players. You can also have up to 3 players on the Injured Reserve. Malone and GP are not signed as of today, July 10, 2003. Things are still not set in stone as far as who will be on the final 15-man roster to begin the year - there could also be fewer than 15, obviously, as there have been the past couple of years. Also, when the pre-season begins, there are usually around 18 players on a team and the pre-season is used to determine which players a team wants to keep on their team for the regular season.

L-Queen,

I know that Malone and Payton is not signed as of today.

That's why I wrote this......

This is our team signed and will be signed as of today, July 10, 2003.

....in my earlier thread.

I'll try to get a combination of Horry and Piatkowski

or Horry and Scott Williams (if he's available)...

Lakersqueen,

I hope that you are as excited as I am about this upcoming seson.
IT WILL BE MEMORABLE!!!

Hey guys, don't forget, this isn't our official lineup, free agent signing hasn't even begun yet!

We may pick up another superstar for all we know.

No No, But people make it seem like our roster is official, with that bench. We will pick up another big superstar and or some people to help with the depth of the bench. We will get better than from where we are right now...

That's what Im saying D.A.

It looks like Pippen is close to going back to Chicago, since Paxson is giving him a front office job after his playing days.

So what's left to sign....Madsen, Horry, Piatkowski........a backup center????

Anyone has any ideas of who we can pick up.

For me, I'll take Horry, since he can play small forward and power forward. And at times with the right matchup, he can play some center.

Horry is the best choice.

This is why.

1. He is a great teammate.
2. A lot of playoff experiece.
3. Clutch in the playoffs.
4. Will strengtened our bench.

Also, with a deeper bench this year,we don't need Horry to play a lot in the regular season. He can get his rest, then be clutch on the playoffs. The time when we actually need him.

If you asked me, I want to get Horry and Piatkowski and put some players on the IR to fit those two.

Naw we don't need another combo pf/sf we have 3 already in Cook, Slava, and Walton. What we need is a shooter and a back up center perhaps Pike and Rooks.

Oh and 5, he knows the triangle.

Fox will go to IR. Probably Cook too. So, that leaves Madsen, who would probably play for free, and Piatkowski.
Buckle up! This off season is going to be some ride...
