Pau Thread: Surgery a success; now rehab & rest for 12 weeks

Even though he's been sucking lately, I still want him back. That second unit with Hill & Clark or Hill & Jamison was just awful. I dunno at least Pau attracts defensive attention, even if he doesn't really deserve it lol

PAU PLAYED LIKE A TOTAL WUSSY TONIGHT! HE WAS BASICALLY SITTING THERE AND DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! TRADE THE DAMN GUY!

One word. No. He would need 3-4 weeks of rest to really cure that tendonitis in his knees. Unfortunately, I think Pau has requested to be traded. He done the same type thing with Memphis before he was dealt to us. I hate it. He's my 3rd favorite Laker all-time behind Magic and Kobe.

i know we've all been dumping on pau's ineffectiveness, but i was just watching backstage lakers.

he's a beautiful person, such a big heart. i seriously think he should go finish med school and become a doctor when he retires from the NBA. he's got the genuine passion to make the grind worth it.

in the meantime, get healthy and get back to kicking a** for our team please.

Pau was terrible in the 4th Qtr. tonight against the Rockets... I say ship him out immediately.

have him play in the post every time down the floor
either the other team mimics you with their own starting player or watch their second unit get destroyed by pau

Getting blown out again in the 4th w/o Gasol? I say we throw him in with 7-8 mins left in the game. Use him as a designated hitter of sorts.

Don't be like that. He is almost at the Gortat level right now, without Nash.

Gortat with Nash: 15/10, shooting 55%.
Pau without Nash: 13/9, 42%.

Almost there. There is no doubt in my mind that Pau will be at least as good as Gortat once Nash comes back.

If we keep Pau we keep Pau, oh well, maybe Nash can help him.

Anybody else not miss him though? I much prefer Jamison starting, and I much prefer Hill getting the backup minutes for Dwight, both guys hustle more than Pau.

Hey Weezy that's what I've been saying about both Hill and Jamison. I really think that Pau will be traded. Make sure he's healthy enough to be traded and once the 12/15 deadline comes he's gone. Pau is very valuable for a team that runs a system that caters to his strength.

Hill can easily backup Dwight. I love what he brings to the table. Jamison should start at the 4.

Can we stop the Pau for Anderson rumors now? Dude is Kevin Love-lite. No way NOH parts with him, IMO.

I'm seeing 2 packages out there that I very much like:

Gasol for Pekovic/Ridnour/Derrick Williams/1st round pick

Gasol for Bargnani/Calderon


Both trades would help our team immensely. Although I hate Bargnani, I think the italian connection with Dantoni, and playing with a guy like Nash...it's a perfect fit for him. Calderon also being our back up PG makes our second unit a thousand times better because he plays just like Nash and can shoot the 3 ball like Nash too.

The Twolves trade is interesting...Ridnour is a huge upgrade over any of our back up PG's right now....Pekovic is a legit big man who can play the 5...Derrick Williams is a nice young player who given the right team, can really fill it up...and of course its nice to have a 1st round pick.


I'd be shocked if either team would help us out though...I think at this point its unrealistic to expect to get a player like Kevin Love for Pau, so I think the Twolves deal IS more realistic than people think. Both deals are nice...I like the Toronto deal a little bit more for us right NOW, as Bargnani is a way better fit next to Dwight than pau is because of his ability to stretch the floor...and calderon is a perfect fit in dantoni's offense and he would allow Nash to play 25-28 mpg.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I think if you bring back a nice big along with a LEGIT back up PG...or you bring a big, an athletic 3 that can also play the 4, and a back up PG, thats a damn good package. Jamison/Hill can more than hold down the fort at the 4 spot. We really should have won the Houston game too....and i dont think pau playing would have helped us win that game.

Gasol for Bargnani/Calderon

As much as I want to at the thought of Bargs in P&G, unfortunately, that's the one I see that's more realistic. Just be prepared to experience another level of softness.

As far as missing him, honestly... no. 4th quarter issues aside Jamison and Hill are playing decent getting some burn with Dwight.

whats wrong with Duhon? he seems good enough to be the backup at this point. Anderson is an option but not directly IMO, if say we can get a team like Minn involved who would give up young assest like Dwill/picks for Pau, the Minn package can go to NOH for Anderson.

I really hope you're wrong, because that would be an idiotic move to make. Hill is relatively cheap, you're not going to find a better player or players for that price, he hustles, he boards, he plays defense, and can score some on top of it. They will just have to find minutes for him, he should be Dwight's permanent backup and Pau should only play the starting 4, or the backup center, not both.

But IF it ends up that Pau does get moved, Hill is as good as it gets for a backup C. And counting on just 3 guys for the front court rotation all season long is risky. One injury and we'd be screwed.

Oh boy, more preaching about what bad fans we are, first we needed to leave poor Mike Brown alone, now we should be nicer to the guy making 19 million dollars a year to play basketball that's playing like he's satisfied with his career as is. You keep on hoping he returns to form, we've all been waiting since the 2011 playoffs for him to return to form, pretty much a year and a half, we're into a 3rd season of waiting for him to return to form. So yeah, good luck with that waiting and hoping. LA and it's spoiled, disrespectful fans expect more, that's just how it is.

All I'm saying is, I (or anyone else here) don't need to be preached to about how to be a fan. It's nice to know that you're out of LA now and above it all and therefore a better fan or something, thanks for the common sense lesson. Anaheim is not LA, people from my area are usually the people at Laker games in the nosebleeds cheering on the team as much or more than anyone, we're not rich, entitled fans. I'm not saying LA fans are lesser fans, just different, and certainly not all of LA as with anywhere else there are rich and poor areas in LA. I guess you're not one of us now or something though as you keep referring Laker fans in LA as "you guys", I guess you're a Kobe first fan as you pointed out, so enjoy picking a new team when he's gone I suppose.

As for Pau, I root for him to do well, he's a Laker and if he does well we do well, but we have rooted for him, and backed him, and stood up for him for a few years of poor play now. We have supported him plenty throughout the years, I don't believe any player is above eventual harsh criticism if their play continues to take a dive as long as Pau's has, even Kobe would not get a lifetime pass. Plus you speak of sample sizes when I bring up the people here from different countries, yet you're referring to the entire board as a group here as bashing Pau. So a sample size of maybe 50-100 regular posters, not even all of which are down on Pau, represents all of LA fans or something?

As a fan, you don't have to sit back and take bad play just because a guy is on your team, you don't have to love the player just because. I highly doubt you've loved every player to ever put on a Laker uniform, if you say you have I'd have a hard time believing you. And like I told the last guy, the guy I was referring to about leaving poor Mike Brown alone, this is a freakin message board, it's for venting as much as anything. I don't go around in real life calling our players names and such, but that's part of what this place is for to me, if you don't like it, you can easily ignore it, again, I don't need to be preached to about how to be a fan. Lastly, as far as what fans of other teams say about us, I couldn't give less of a crap. We're used to winning and we expect it, most of them are not and do not, so oh well.

If that Nash wanted to play with gasol is true - that would have been before we got dwight. Having dwight might soften losen gasol is nash eyes.
