Pau Thread: Surgery a success; now rehab & rest for 12 weeks

Trade him now! The guy obviously is full of excuses now...he plays like a beast for Spain, yet when the season starts he just keep stealing money from the Lakers.

Dude is done as a Laker. If Minny, Raps and Toronto want him, Mitch should trade him. I wouldn't be surprise if he plays well for them, he just isn't motivated to play here anymore.

Lakers trade - Pau / Blake / Meeks / Ebanks
Lakers get - Wesley Matthews / DWill / Barea / Hickson

Minny trades - DWill / Pek / Barea / 1st
Minny gets - Pau / Ebanks

Portland trades - Matthews / Hickson

At this point I'd take him over Pau even if his skillset is limited .. but he's tough to move in the paint and a good finisher around the rim ...

I'm a big Pau supporter so I really don't want to see him traded. However, we need to improve the team. So I think the Lakers are bending the truth a little bit about waiting to see if he works out with Nash. I think they are waiting for December 16th. After the 15th of December there will be more options in trading because players who can't be traded now can be then. There can be a three or 4 team trade that works that I really think they are targeting Ryan Anderson. Right now Anderson is a better player both in spreading the floor & rebounding. So to me as a Pau supporter if the Lakers can bring a trade that brings in Anderson and Calderon or Anderson & Ridenour & some picks and fillers I'm on board.

Sometimes we are a talent blackhole, they do well on their teams right now, they come here and watch Kobe play.

actually if Minn gave us Pek/Dwill and a pick, I would flip the pick/Pek to NOH for Anderson. Pek is bull dozer type of C that would fit really well next to Davis. Pek is cheap enough for NOH to take a flyer on, he is quite a commodity right now. Dont think he would fit here as a PF and bringing him off the bench would kill his effectiveness/value altogether.

I'd rather take the Raptors deal over Minnesota's. However, if we could somehow get say AK and Barea from Minny I'd much rather do that.

Pek is a blue collar, don't need touches to be effective type of player that we desperately need. Nash made Gortat very effective and these two are very similar players.

Getting Williams in the deal would put some desperately needed youth on this team that actually belongs in the NBA as well.

I don't have the NBA salaries page bookmarked like a lot here do.... do these two combined even come close to what Pau is making? I thought any trade of Pau would need to bring back nearly 20 million in salaries. Williams is on a Rookie deal (5 Mill or so) and Pek can't be making much more than that so it would seem that we'd be 10 million short or so on this from a financial standpoint.

Both players make around 4.8M each, I don't see how the salaries would work unless they include AK.

Pek will be FA this summer , Williams has a team option in 2014-2015 and is restricted FA the season after

I want that other Russian SG Minn has (Shved) , dude is shaping up to be a mini AK now, his fg% is awful for a guard but he's a stat filler across the boards.

I think if the Lakers were clever enough to put a deal together that reunited Pau & Calderon together with Rubio, we could get a deal done that lands us Ryan Anderson & Luke Ridenour and a player or two to fill in some help to our bench, Minnesota would be more than happy to be a main trade parter to help pull off any deal that would bring those two in here.

there is no way this is even remotely possible unless Minn wants to trade their entire team, Pau/Calderon together are nearly $30mill this year, Minn two biggest contract (love/ak) barely add up to $21mill, barely matching Pau contract by himself.

Wow didn't know Calderon was making that much, with that being said, I still think we could land Ridenour & Anderson with Minnesota as a trade partner. We know Minnesota was not opposed to taking Blake last year when we were looking to get Beasley.

I'm glad Mitch is being patient with the return of Nash to see how Gasol performs; although, I don't think that will make any difference. If Nash isn't coming back until the middle of December and Gasol is out indefinitely, how much time is that going to leave us to see how well the mesh? I hope we have enough time to evaluate because we're running out of time.

As for the trade, Minnesota always has intrigued. Pek & Williams would be interesting. Add in another wing and we might have something to work with. Williams has always interested me. He's a local kid who can provide a stretch 4 option when Jamison is on the bench. He's also very young.

I dont know who Minn european scout is but dude is on point, I thougth Pek was just a goon and a scrub but has turned out to be a solid big in this league and now this Shved guy is looking better and better all the time. To bad they suck at drafting still.

you're already in fantasy land if you think you can get those two to LA to begin with and you want Minn to take on an injured player to boot?

I don't know that it's fantasy. It's no secret, they want Pau, how badly???? Yeah Blake is hurt, but he's coming back and will fit in nicely for them. It is not uncommon for a team to take an injured player as long as it is not something really serious like a really bad knee injury or back injury.
