Minny gives up A LOT, but if they truly value Gasol's experience and think he would fit and mentor Rubio, then I wouldn't say it would be a long shot. Maybe if another player was thrown in that would make it worthwhile other than Ebanks.

NO overpaid Anderon who currently isn't someone who they can build with. They'll get young, talented pieces and not have to worry about Anderson's long contract.

There's no question the Lakers want Anderson. Floor spacing at the 4, and he hustles. Kirilenko like real noted, would be the piece that makes us legitimate. If he can bring what he did in Utah, oh man. He can create, shoot, and play defense.

Minny gives up too much. However, in my scenario in the other thread I have Minny trading Williams, AK-47, and Ridnour. That seems more plausible. The T-puppies aren't giving up AK-47, Pekovic AND Williams.

Minny was willing to trade Williams for the 2nd pick in the draft this summer to entice the Lakers. I think Williams is a project so AK-47 would kinda headline the deal. Ridnour would be a very good back up for Nash. The dude had a 44% three point percentage only two seasons ago.

Frankly, Hill provides the depth behind Dwight. A lineup of this is awesome:

F: Jamison, Williams
C: Howard, Hill

That would be a really nice lineup!

I don't think any of us can be sure of anything as far as Gasol goes. If we take the Lakers at the face value of what they are saying then he'll get his chance to play alongside Nash and the rest of our guys. I've been advocating this myself as I want to see what four future HOF starters can do for us.

I've been plenty critical of Pau beginning with his fade in Phil's last year, but I'm with Mitch - I wouldn't trade Pau right now. I want to see how it works. You don't often (or ever) get to see a lineup like that. If D' Antoni can't make it work I personally think it's more on him than Gasol. But again, we won't know until we see it in action. That to me is worth waiting for.

On the other hand, this thing could be a ruse, just like the show the FO put on about going to see Phil, never intending to actually hire him (or in a slightly less cynical view, already having basically settled on D' Antoni and just checking out what Phil would say or do out of curiosity).

Perhaps they are just sitting him until Dec. 16th in order to trade him. Who really knows?

I am hoping we get to see Pau play with Nash for some time, though. If it doesn't work out then trade him before the deadline. But what's wrong with at least seeing what we have? In the meantime we've been ok with Jamison and Hill filling in.

Most of you are talking about a 32 y/o guy, with awful numbers,bad defender, earning 19M/year (+tradekick?), in decline, and who knows how injured he is. And yet you want Minny to trade half of their roster (the half who is healthy) for this guy?

From a Minnesota point of view I would only trade Pek+Williams for Gasol because Pek can walk out next summer. But then salaries wont mach. Actually, right now Pek has shown he can do better than Gasol. And that is without Rubio. Wait till Rubio comes back and gains full health. He'll make both Pek and Will look like AllStars XD

You can only hope Nash will do the same with Gasol :)

So stop dreaming of Shved, Kirilenko, etc ...

Go check the Timbertrolls W/L compared to LA. Then check how many injuries they've gone through so far. It's not them the ones that desperately need a trade.

You could always say... welll Kahn is stupid..

Maybe the T-Wolves signed Kirilenko to that ridiculous 10 million a year contract, so that it would be easier to match salaries because they want Gasol.

IIRC didn't GSW do that with Kwame and then ended up trading for someone?

Although Pekovic & Williams sounds great, I would hold on to Pau a bit more, at least until we can see what our full squad can do...we should be at least 12-7 right now given the games we didn't finish with Indiana, Magic, & Rockets...

Its funny how Pau is virtually "untradeable" this year, but next season will be the most sought after player as a $19,000,000 expiring. Such is life in the NBA.

Hope Pau gets better and the rest/return of Nash brings him back to as much form as can be expected.

Pek is a blue collar, don't need touches to be effective type of player that we desperately need. Nash made Gortat very effective and these two are very similar players.

Getting Williams in the deal would put some desperately needed youth on this team that actually belongs in the NBA as well.

I don't have the NBA salaries page bookmarked like a lot here do.... do these two combined even come close to what Pau is making? I thought any trade of Pau would need to bring back nearly 20 million in salaries. Williams is on a Rookie deal (5 Mill or so) and Pek can't be making much more than that so it would seem that we'd be 10 million short or so on this from a financial standpoint.

yea and people are complaining that pau is too slow & non explosive for this team. pek is a slow 'bulldozer". that guy is a slug and doesn't fit the system either. why in the hell would the front office take back a in paint only big like pek who is putting up good numbers on a suck team? yea he looks good next to kevin love but this just in we don't have k. love on our roster.

He looks a hell of a lot better next K. Love than Pau does next to Howard. Pek could be Howard's back-up allowing Jamison to start. Williams (others would be needed to make the salaries even close) would be the first young player in forever we had that actually has NBA level talent.

I'd take this deal with a "plodding" player that understands fundamental basketball over any deal involving a dunce like Josh Smith who can dunk and little else. Athletic ability has little to do with being a good basketball player.

I dont want to trade Pau. I really think he'll come around being healthy and playing with Nash. Also with Jamison backing him up playing major minutes he should be fresh for the playoffs.

Timberwolves' trade is interesting but not what we need. DWill has good upside but thats it...we've yet to see him be as consistent as Pau at least. Pekovic is a good center imo and would be great behind Dwight on both ends and especially rebounding. BUT we already have Hill who i would rather play since were already paying him and know exactly what he'll bring every second hes on the floor for us.

I think Rapters' trade would make the most sense as you get Calderon who would be GREAT behind Nash. I like Duhon so idk but i think it would be a smart move. Bargnani although i think isnt as good as Pau. Not as good as a shooter, rebounder, or passer...hes just younger. Pretty much the trade would be for Calderon who has been playing well this year so far.

Calderon: 9.8/7.1 (42.9% FG , 47.2% 3PT) 2.0 TOPG

Guess we'll have to wait and see til after Pau and Nash are 100% and play together until anymore trade talks

I honestly don't see Pau getting much better with Nash. There were zero signs of it when they played together in pre-season. Yes, it was pre-season, but we still should have at least seen something. Not even ONE pick and roll? :freak2:

Maybe he'll play better if healthier, but that would mean sitting out a lot of games and playing only 27 mins a game MAX.

AAR, Nash shouldn't expect anyone to be untradeable. If Gasol goes, then Gasol goes. Nash is a professional and will play with anyone we surround him with.

So, I've been really hard on Pau the past few weeks, and I just want to say, that nothing will make me happier than to see Pau come back and make me eat crow. I would obviously prefer this to trading him. But I just don't see it happening which is why I get so frustrated. Here's hoping the rest Pau gets (I'd rest him for a few more weeks) will do some good.
