What we've been seeing is guards pulling Dwight over and then dishing off to his man for dunks. Another 7 footer in the interior for defence can only help, especially since it's been a hallmark of our defence the last several years. Just making shots more difficult will have a good effect.

Looks like he is progressing nicely. Could he be back before the end of the month?

If so, we have all of April to get a rotation set for the playoffs that we are damn sure going to make. It would also be nice to be able to let Clark/Jamison rotate at the 3/4 instead of the 3/4/5. That would lower MWP's minutes (Double finger point to the sky, thanking Baby Jesus).

^^ Superb news! Yes, I'm really hoping he can make it back by the last 9 or 10 games of the season (sometime just before the end of March). That would be a huge boost for us to secure a spot for the playoffs and then going forward. We need him.

Good to know he's recovering fast, we know he'll be the backup C coming off the bench but how are we gonna use him? Is he gonna play alongside Dwight or just play backup C and play 15-20mins a game? Is he gonna play alongside Dwight late in games ahead of this working group of MWP/Jamison at the 4? We know spacing is gonna be a problem with Dwight/Pau frontcourt so would that mean more Meeks ahead of Clark and MWP then? Lots of questions to answer with late game lineups being the most important one

D12 has said he thinks he and Pau can play together. But that was before the All-Star break. Now that D12 appears to have gotten serious, perhaps we'll see the real effort on D12's part to complement Pau when they're on the floor together. Of course then they will have to figure out how to counter teams that go small against them.

$34+M if you include the repeater tax as well.

Lakers are not repeater tax offenders unless they go over the tax threshold for 2014-2015 season, which they shouldn't. As for Pau, sooner he comes back the better....Early is starting to fizzle, might need to cut down on his minutes a bit and I also hope Pau can start building some sort of chemistry with Howard like Bynum.

Some great points being made about how Pau's return should help us. A 7 footer to help on Dwight's man when he moves out to stop penetration, a 7 footer out there when Dwight sits, which is sometimes long stretches when he's in foul trouble or hurt. Opening up Clark/Jamison to play at SF to limit Metta's minutes. One thing I hope it doesn't change is Nash's increased scoring. He's had to step it up & become the 3rd option lately & he's been super efficient.. We have to stick with what's working.

just hope pau coming back doesnt mess up the chemistry and play that kobe/dwight have had together. dont want kobe to go back to only trusting pau over dwight. def more dangerous with kobe/dwight and nash/pau combos imo

Pau Gasol is getting closer to a return to the active roster as he went through a full workout on Tuesday. He has been out for the last five weeks recovering from a torn plantar fascia in his right foot.

"He’s starting to run now and he feels pretty good," Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "So, I think every day without setbacks, without getting sore, he’ll just up it."

There is a chance Gasol will practice in the next seven days and he might be available soon after that if he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

I think we're going to peak when Pau returns. Right now we're playing well but not elite. It will be perfect timing heading into the PS.

Yeah, feel like Pau is going to make our offense that much more dynamic. Hoping he comes off the bench but plays 30 minutes a game, 15 or so with the starters.

Having another 7 footer in the paint can definitely make us elite, despite Pau's suspect help defense.

Pau comes back healthy with some mobility he is really not that bad on defense.
