I'll bet Elmo can dislodge him in the post these days....

I wanted Gortat this last offseason. Some here (I know exactly who it was, by the way) said that would be stupid.

Gortat proceeded to post 13/10, shoot 54%, play in 81 games, post a 112 ORtg and 103 DRtg, pick up 8.1 win shares.

Pau averaged 17/10, shot 48%, missed 22 games, posted an ORtg of 102, DRtg of 108, and picked up 3 win shares.

Seems like Gortat would've been a nice upgrade.

Did I say it was stupid? I think I liked Gortat depending on the money...

Indeed. Other than a slight "bi lingual stutter" you can't tell that he had an accent.

We should've traded this guy two years ago and we would probably have at least 1st round pick in this impressive draft. It's these little mistakes that add up. Look at Boston and how they capitalized on Pierce and Garnett. Garnett isn't worth a bag of chips right now, he's done. Now Gasol's value is much lower than what it was.

Yikes. A Dirk/Pau front line? They'll put up decent numbers while getting thrown around the court.

They should sign and trade him for Samuel Dalembert.

^+1. Cheap big who can defend and rebound. We should have picked him up last offseason.

Gortat's salary won't be cheap like Dalembert's. We're going to have to pay to get him. I wouldn't be surprised if he asks for $10 million.

Pau made us instant contenders a few years ago and it worked out for us, Ill always have a place for Pau in my heart....but that ship has sailed. Would have benefitted us to unload him a couple seasons ago, obviously. Now he will benefit another team, just not nearly as well as he did us, cheaper of course. Gortat....as a fan who lives outside of DC. Gortat was THE MAN far more often then not. Wall, Ariza, Gortat etc... WAS did a great job last year and Gortat was a legit anchor for that team. I dunno if he was a big fish in a small pond, or just a product of the overall system but im unsure how much of an impact he would have here. Upgrade? Thats not saying much.

all in all, does Pau get his jersey in the rafters?

i believe so, hes a HOFer for sure because of what he did here and his international resume.

if he retire him, we'd finally have a PF up there. Baylor and Worthy could of been tweeners but they're 3s in my mind.

more wing players than a legit big.

On offense,a Dirk/Pau frontcourt could really stretch out the D. That'd open the lanes up for Ellis. Defense would be a disaster.
