Really disappointed to see that Pau didn't attack the paint without Duncan in there.. Atleast when Kobe returns we'll see him in the paint when they run the P&R with Kobe/Pau.. I thought good defensive anchors on opposing teams were what kept him out of the paint the last 2 games but last night he had no excuse not to get in there.. I 100% want Pau traded if he isn't going to be in the post this season. There are tons of "stretch" bigs & most of them are much more athletic than Pau & don't get killed on defense.. Pau had the best post game in the league there for a while.. Such a waste :bang:

Same crap from Pau. I've been done with him. The good thing? He's on an expiring and hopefully won't be here next year...

Gasol isn't in shape yet. That much is clear to me.

He starts every game energetically and aggressively. Then as the game goes on, he gets more and more lazy and loses more and more ground on both ends of the floor.

I'm not saying he'll turn it around this season, but I don't think he'll always look this weak late in games.

The Howard/Bynum excuse is gone and Gasol is still shooting Js at the elbow area and looks like he is glued to the floor.

I would trade him for a pick that would end up somewhere in the top 8.

Agreed. And though I've defended him plenty (and criticized him plenty) over the past few years, I've always said that this is the year to move him as an expiring contract. Nothing in his game currently is dissuading me from that opinion at all. In fact, I feel stronger about it than ever. There is no longer any excuse for him playing the jump-shooter role out there. Go to that if it's open some times, but don't use it as the de facto move. Get into the paint. :disagree:

But I'm truly hoping we can get something good for Pau at the deadline. I just don't see any reason right now to keep him.

So funny, Bynum and Howard are gone and this dude is still allergic to posting up. Heck even in the 2011/2012 season he was the lone big with the 2nd unit and he wouldn't post up. He can say MDA, Mike Brown, he wants to be unselfish, he wants to feed the other bigs, etc etc, the culprit is him. He simply refuses to post up and take the beating down there and instead wants to roam around the perimeter and launch jumpers

And dont even get me started on his pathetic defense.

^^ To be fair, I do see that, too realdeal. However, he seems to be losing energy even by the second quarter, which isn't good. By the third quarter he seems pretty beat.

This.

He had an excuse last year hanging out at the 3-point line. This year, he has no excuse whatsoever why he's out on the perimeter. You wanted post play, you got it. WTF are you still shooting 3-pointers for?

No more excuses for Pau, he opened the game shooting two 3 pointers in a row, made one & airballed one. He used every other big as an excuse for his rapid decline.

Just a theory, here, but the coach might possibly have something to do with Pau shooting out on the perimeter...remember that Antoni doesn't believe in the post up, and he doesn't run it in his system...even Kaman could be much more effective if he used his size and strength by going back to the basket every time he gets the ball down low but, lo and behold, he has been on the 10-18ft level most of the time as well...

Our entire offensive system is designed to keep the post wide open on the offensive end...It's not working, but Antoni wants to keep trying it anyway. Remember that the difference between these past 3 seasons and this season is that Phil and Mike Brown both prefer a low post oriented offense and the push to keep Dwight FORCED Antoni to not run his system all last year.

This is the first time we are actually RUNNING Mike's stupid offense. I don't blame Pau for that. Also, Pau doesn't like getting hammered down low with no call every time down the floor, can't say I blame him on that one. If the refs are not going to make the calls, why sacrifice his body for nothing...especially since you guys are going to hate on him either way.
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.

At what point do we stopping making excuses for the guy and just attribute it to being old and not being able to get the job done anymore?

Should have traded him after the CP3 fiasco and we've been paying for it ever since. His career is on the decline it's pretty evident that is the case.

Getting young pieces for him if possible is good enough for me. Pau is not very good anymore, he shouldn't be re-signed, he shouldn't just expire for nothing, I don't see him in our future even for 12 mil or so, I think it's time to move on. He's still a useful player, but the guy can't even score in the post anymore, it's sad.

Let's trade him if we can.... Kaman and Hill can hold the front court down....
