Kevin Ding @KevinDing 16 Mar
Some soreness for @Pau Gasol today in his right foot and he's seeing foot specialist tomorrow. Could be routine; no reason to panic yet.

Let him figure it out. He had a torn fascia. I'm thinking he could come back against Washington and we should be able to win the other two games.

Hopefully the impatient among us will not use any delays from the recent "early" hope he could play against Sac Town or Phoenix to start beating Pau up again over that. No one wants to be out there more than he does.

But is it only me or did it seem like a really quick progression from running at 75% weight on the gravity treadmill to actual running and limited scrimmaging?

Gasol is going to see Dr. Jung (foot specialist) today & we'll have an update before the game on where he stands.

Hopefully it's nothing serious, but we really do need him to come back when his foot is pain free.

He should be fine. Its just soreness. I think a guy who has had that much time off and that type of injury would be sore after some hard workouts....

What I'm trying to figure out is who is gonna be the odd man out when gasol comes back? I feel it should be Clark, and by odd man out, I don't mean no PT at all. I feel Clark would best suit us at around 15-20 minutes a game. Obviously he isn't producing a whole lot in starter minutes so I figure he would best be served as that. He should def come in as a back up 3, allowing Tawn to continue his dominance at the 4..... Jamison's minutes shouldn't be affected too much because Pau would just scoot to the 5 when Dwight's out giving Jamison time. And when Dwight comes in, Gasol is out allowing Jamison to continue playing. So looks like Clark's minutes would be cut down to about 15-20 minutes which is actually good for him.

I think it all depend on where the soreness is coming from, the regular leg muscles not so much, but foot soreness? How often do you get foot soreness after a long time of not playing? For me basically never, unless the foot is still injured, hence why he is seeing a foot specialist again, I think his foot is acting up again.

When the muscle in your foot tore? :man10:

My point exactly, if the foot healed, there should not be any soreness. Soreness means its still not fully 100% yet. Hopefully seeing the foot specialist was just routine, or else Pau was concerned enough to see a doctor.

That's not necessarily what soreness means. My joint could be "sore" when the weather turns bad, doesn't mean it's injured.

If he's sore it's because he is coming back from a surgery in which his muscles are probably not quite ready for the strain of a basketball game. Is that what you mean?

You are unique, most people should not be sore when the weather changes. It is not like Pau was off his foot until yesterday. They go through extensive rehab time way before then. I know because my dad went through two knee replacements surgery and they made him walk on it the next day after surgery, trust me, knee replacements are among the most painful. I also know that foot injuries are naggy little things, they tend to stick around for a long time, maybe because we are on them all day? Yes basketball game is completely different, but it just worries me when he have to go see a foot specialist right after the "soreness".

Pau should take his time. Feet are tricky things. Wonder if he's being prescribed with orthotics?

The ultrasound on the foot of @paugasol showed "continued healing and improvement," per LAL PR. Good news for Gasol & LAL.

It's been exactly 6 weeks in a 6-8 week original timetable; Gasol's expected back soon, & continues to progress.

Just based on tweets from the last week it looks like he was hoping to play vs Phx but then with the soreness they decided to wait and get the ultrasound to make sure that it was nothing to be concerned about as they suspected.

Unless he still has soreness on Friday I think he'll play then. Good warm up for our (next) big game on Monday.

After ultrasound on foot today, Pau is healing, but Friday return is now seems unlikely. Lakers want Pau to have consecutive pain-free days before he plays a game. D'Antoni had hoped to reintegrate Pau in practices tomorrow and Thursday, but Pau taking part in light team workout tomorrow won't happen unless he feels suddenly very good.

Overall, Pau's recovery from the torn plantar fascia is going well -- this is six weeks now -- but he will ramp down the workouts if he has more pain. If he has less pain, then he'll ramp them up. Either way, return is in the ballpark -- just not maybe Friday vs. Wizards.

Lakers play at Golden State on Monday night.

Take your time Pau... We need a healthy and aggressive Pau
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

just heard on 710 that Pau participated in a full practice today. It sounds like his availability for Friday depends on how he gets through Thursday's practice.

He sounded out of breath during the interview so expect him to take a few games before he is up to speed.

I'm sure he'll be back very soon. His conditioning will not be that great but... he can play most of the minutes backing up Dwight, so it's all good.

he shouldn't come back until it's mostly pain free. that might give him some time to get his wind, too. just need to gut out a couple wins in the interim.
