Man, what did you do with that knee to have 5 surgeries? :man3:

he's gota go....he's no longer hungry and if he accepted less money to stay he could also be content with doing as little as possible as well and or be disgruntled for being paid so little when he's already commented in somewhat of a negative conotation about Kobe's contract.

Right: 3 surgeries, two full reconstructions and a "clean out" Bone on Bone these days….
Left: 2 surgeries, one for torn meniscus and one for partially torn Patella Tendon.

Tore the right one up playing football in college and again playing rec. league basketball. Tore the Patella doing heavy squats…..…. second rep didn't quite make it with 580lbs on the bar.

I literally have to turn away from knee injuries when watching sports on TV.

That's like me and ankle injures. Can't watch them on TV. But I've never had anything that extreme. I guess the heavy squats days are over, then?

$7 million for Pau? I wouldn't resing him for the MLE. Veterans minimum, yes, but even that is a stretch for me.

We just need some fresh guys in here who can bring it every night. I know that Pau still wants to play well, but his body just doesn't want to anymore. He needs to go.

I wouldn't resign Pau...he's best left to go elsewhere and play out his career. For the Lakers and Pau, it's best to move on after the season.

Let's just stop hating on the dude. We know he's done. We know he's not really tradeable. We know he's owed $20M. And we know he's not playing like it. We know his expected role on this team is far greater than what he can actually provide. We know. I don't think I've seen anything posted in this thread this season that we haven't seen before. $20M coming off the books guys. There's nothing we can do about the situation.

The one positive about him this season - rebounds. Offensive rebounds mainly. A couple of games were saved because of that. Is he the rebounder he once was? No. Are there better rebounders? Definitely. Because of his rebounding, it's hard to argue against giving him PT. I don't think playing Sacre over Pau does us any good. Kaman is injured, out, in the dog house - whatever.

your right, at this point we all have Pau kicked to the ground and yet we're spitting on him now. Figuratively speaking of course

I'd have a hard time justifying $4 million a year for Gasol. Truth is, his D (or lack thereof) doesn't make up for his good offensive games (when they happen). He's a detriment to the team.

Like I've mentioned before I have no doubt some team will give him a $10 million + deal. If he wants to stay a Laker he's going to have to take a big pay cut, and if not then I have no issue letting him walk. Defensively he's done and offensively he just doesn't have the energy or desire to play effectively.

If possible I'd like to see him sign for cheap and come off the bench with the 2nd unit next season. Perhaps that will finally get his butt in the post although I doubt it.

You forgot to mention that he will rekindle his championship level play, and then torch the Lakers, specifically Sacre.

It wouldn't surprise me, maybe all he needs is a change of scenery.

I'm so tired of Pau now. We're a better team without him on the floor most nights. He's a net negative out there.

What I notice is that when Gasol is by himself he's as athletic as he's been in 3 years. As soon as you put a single person near him he can't get off the floor. He relies on his length to get rebounds, but when someone challenges for a rebound he's not strong enough physically to handle any contact whatsoever.

He's an MLE big at this point. He's got to be among the league's worst players getting 10 million dollars or more let alone 19.

Yeah, Pau has no defenders anymore. I maintain that if's not physically right he should sit in order to heal. But his being out there -- with very compromised mobility -- is killing this team. he's getting blocked by guys 5 inches shorter. He's scoring off some junk putbacks, but it doesn't seem like he can score at will (like he used to) off his post-game anymore. I also think his body language (poor) is affecting the mood of the rest of the team. Right now, at his level of play, he's better off sitting and having a healthier guy (or two) take his place.

Pau the weakest link for our starting lineup at the moment, a 7ft center that couldn't defend, jump and protect the paint, huge negative impact on the defensive end for us.

I'm confused : is it forbidden by NBA rules to jump to block or alter an opponent shot ?

this is not the first game a team beat the lakers down the stretch simply by finding whomever pau was likely to end up on and going to that guy for 8 straight trips. when he's not punishing the other team in the post (either with passing or scoring) on the other end, this is a guy who not only shouldn't be in the game at that point--he shouldn't be in the game at any point.

if he's hurt, he needs to sit until he's healthy. if it's a nash situation--wherein nobody really expects him to be healthy so they play him anyway--the lakers need to purge their team of such individuals. that's 30 million of your cap tied to players who are clearly net negatives at this stage in their careers.
