According to SC, Pau first Laker other than Kareem to put up a 15-20-10 line.

Huge props to the Spaniard!

If only this Pau had showed up the last two years in the Playoffs. :man6:

Dude pulled an Ice Cube again :man4:

I'm loving this version of Pau Gasol. He's been more agressive, and he looks fresh out there. He's straight up dominating games, and taking care of business.

I won't take back a single word I said about him earlier this year though. He sucked, and it was a result of him playing too many seasons, and not resting his old legs. The injury ended up being a blessing in disguise. Regardless, I'm loving it that he's back. If he plans on staying agressive, and getting some rest over the off season, then I would welcome him back with open arms next season.

It's bittersweet to see him out there dominating. If Kobe was healthy no team would want to face the Lakers with Pau, Dwight, and Kobe playing this well.

Weezy wrote:He stepped up as a leader and did it all from what I saw. Another triple-double for your PF? Wow. But no, sorry Kobe, Pau makes too much to be a 3rd banana. If the NBA had no cap and we had unlimited money to work with, sure I'd keep him though.

If we win a championship, money is not really an objective. Buss always preached that.

That said, our plan is max cap space to pair another young superstar with Dwight. The Lakers best bet at doing so is to keep Pau rather than trade him for space parts that may or may not improve our chances at a ring but will ruin our 2014 plan.

Pau used correctly, is not overpaid. Put the right inside-out team together, bring back this core plus improvements and see what happens.

We need shooters off the bench, an athletic SF who can defend and shoot, and speed in the back court. Add those ingridients to Dwight/(Kobe)/Pau/Nash/Jamison/Hill and I think we can be a real contender next year.

if there is a trade out there that makes sense for both winning now AND keeping cap space, then I'm all for it but Minny is not trading K Love nor is NOH going to trade Anderson + Vasquez-- something that in the past would sound foolish. Even if Minny offered D Will/AK/Barea, is that going to be a better team in MDA style ball then Dwight/Pau/Kobe/Nash in a slow it down pound it inside/triangle.

The best fix is not only the cheapest, but helps preserve the 2014 plan AND lets us compete.

Sign Phil Jackson. We all know this is a win NOW move and this team would dominate.
Add shooters, speed, youth, and a starting SF.

Again, if there is some undeniably good package, then do it. But Pau is showing he's got plenty left and Dwight/Pau connection is really developing.

If he keeps playing like this it makes life so much easier on the rest of the team. His impact the last few games has been huge.

Center Court, I don't see how you add all those things a without trading Pau though, he is our only trade asset. We're not going to go out and sign shooters, young athletes, and a starting SF with the minimum and whatever MLE we have. I like what Pau is doing now, but I believe he's declining and you get the best you can for him this offseason, his value will only go down going forward.

For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Gasol facilitated very well from the elbows and the low box last night. I still think he takes too many mid-range Js for my taste. There were a trio of plays where I was yelling at the tv. Holding the ball with one hand with Harden sneaking up on him for a steal. Hesitating on a shot which got blocked...24 second clock violation. Not jumping for that rebound in the crucial minutes in OT. Otherwise, I thought Gasol was stellar.

I really am going to miss him in lieu of how long this postseason run is going to be...

The results were great and Pau had a great game.

He still frustrates the crap out of me with his pass first mentality when deep in the paint or post because he has the skill to make the shot himself... and at a much higher percentage than Meeks and MWP can make 3 pointers... while the assists get pointed to as a positive for him I tend to disagree. You don't want your 7'-1" PF 4 feet away from the hoop leading your team in assists.... The play where he was being guarded by Harden in transition 3 feet from the hoop and passed cross court to MWP for a fade away corner 3 was maddening....

He rose to the occasion and deserves credit.... good game.

Shades of last year's Game 4 gaffe against OKC... I wonder if ANYONE ever mentions those types of plays to him? They do have film sessions don't they? Gasol has me muttering to myself...freaking Carlos Delfino on him. Carlos Delfino! I say things like "Sweet Baby Jesus, Blake, Meeks, Dancing Barry, SOMEONE, ANYONE get him the ball!"...

Love the way he's going at it now. But still think he is gone in the offseason no matter what Kobe says. Mitch has to open the door somewhere to rebuilding around D12 and Gasol is the best trade asset going forward.

I love the way he's playing too, but agreed with all the sentiments with his trade value.

Minnesota is probably salivating at the way Pau is playing, dreaming of doing that with Rubio.

With Love having knee surgery and recovering from his hand surgery, his stock is low. Maybe we can grab AK or DWill with Love as well.

Jesus, sometimes you just can't win. I'd like to remind you that before Pau our center was Kwame Brown! The first year Pau was here we made it to the Finals and won two championships with his help, and you are calling him a 3rd banana? That's wrong in so many ways.
