i know our whole team sucks on defense minus howard and metta, IMHO, pau is the main culprit for our woes on either end and he just pisses howard off too damn much on defense.

However Pau goes, so go the Lakers...

Well, if we're thinking of trading, we're gonna need someone who can shoot outside, play defense, rebound, and pass the ball, and it's tough finding another guy with the right combination.

Maybe the first two are more important than the next two, so in that case, someone like Carl Landry would be ideal.

Am I the only one who felt like Pau played well yesterday? He had some strong moves in the paint and hit those 2 threes and a couple of wide open mid range jumpers. Yeah he didn't played great defensively but Pau has never been a defensive anchor, and he wasn't the only one playing bad D yesterday. There's no way we trade him and get equal value back until next season when he's an expiring contract, and even then who knows?
I should get an assist for that. It's an intentional pass to oneself, so it's an assist. That way people can't say all I do is shoot.

LOL of course, whenever the Lakers lose, its Pau that should be traded. We should trade Pau to make some of the posters in here happy, thew question is, will the Lakers do any better? maybe we will need to find another scapegoat? Dwight, Metta? One person sucked so bad yesterday that we LOSE! how dare he? I guess he put up 50 shots and only scored 19pts!!!! :man9: :man9: :man9:

But of course we have some of the toughest guys in this forum, so they should be able to tell who's weak... :man9: :man9:

no, if you only watched the offensive side, you'd think he played ok.

as for trading him, i'm sure they've been looking for a while. i'm guessing that happens this summer, probably late, after some smaller team strikes out in FA and can absorb a chunk of his deal.

I guess if you are looking at Kobe's offensive game, he played "ok" too. Re-watch yesterday game, how many times Pau or Dwight have to rotate from two to three men just to protect the inside?

You guys got your pitch forks already...so my point is moot.

^^ The scapegoating is getting incredibly out of hand at this point. I thought Pau played as aggressively on offense yesterday as I've seen from him in years. Sometimes now I don't know what people are watching because we seem to be seeing two different things.

Was Pau's defense very good? Not so much. But no one's was yesterday. Kobe's was atrocious. Meeks' was atrocious. And Ron didn't play his usual stellar D either. Dwight wasn't that good when he was in and he didn't help matters by getting kicked out on a pretty stupid frustration foul.

Some day you guys are going to probably get your wish and get a whole let less talent back for Pau. Personally I would rather have the luxury of his high skills. I like what he brings to the table when he's healthy. Next year he'll be way too expensive to have around, but I hope he makes it through this season.

Please don't assume the critique of Pau comes from one stinking game. We are talking over 1.5 years of pansie play.

Why don't we bash Howard and Metta for last night's game?.......What have they done before tonight....a hell of alot more than Pau has.

not ok, pretty outstanding on that end. and on defense, he was bad, just not "pau gasol post-2010" bad.

If we are going back in time, what have Pau done for us?...What have Howard done for us? Did he give us two championships? Have Artest given us two championships? Didn't Artest suck the whole last year? If we start getting critical, there are a whole lot of blames to go around.

LOL are we really going there?

So it's ok for Pau to suck for 1.5 years because he helped us win 2 CHIPS?

Has Metta not redeemed himself for last year?

Has D12 been pretty darn good on the defensive end for us so far?

We are talking about this year. This year D12 and Metta have been very good. Pau has sucked...all year long, and yes he sucked last year too.

Don't ever accuse people of knee-jerk reactions when you are doing the same damn thing. Assuming we are going ballistic JUST over last night's game.

Have you even read most of this Pau thread? I am trying to hold myself back but, screw it.....you're just being stupid. Arguing just for the sake of arguing. I am done.

If Pau gets traded for money sake that is fine, if Pau gets traded and we automatically get better that is fine. Can anyone be 100% sure that if we trade Pau, this Lakers team will get better?

He lost rebounds last night to Lawson and Miller. Those little guys just wrestled the ball away from Pau.

he's clearly on the decline, and has been since the 10-11 season when he was just manhandled in the playoffs

Trade Pau already. The analysis on this guy isn't changing. Those that want him gone, like me, are sick of the excuses, flopping, amd all around soft play. Those that want him to stay are stuck in the past, and are making excuses for him. He is not the player that he was in the triangle, he's faded. Even worse, he doesn't fit with this system. Trade him now.

Trade him for who?

He has a $19 million contract. And it doesn't expire until next season. We're not going to get anybody spectacular at that price.

^^ Don't bother trying to talk sense revgen. It's going nowhere with most of this crowd.

I don't really get the scapegoating when he's actually been playing pretty well for us since he got back, but the mob mentality is in full effect right now.

That's Mitch's job to figure out for who.

As for Lakerjones' contention that a mob mentality has settled in and therefore it makes no sense to argue keeping Pau to the mob, tell me what is so unreasonable about wanting to trade a player? And if a "mob" wants to trade Pau maybe there's a collective reason why they feel that way.

How about telling me why we should keep an EXTREMELY timid, soft 7 footer at $19million a year who regularly gets outplayed by average players?

Seeing what it did to Ron and his play when he had it, might as well sit Pau again until it is completely healed.

Then maybe Mitch should be the one to make the call on whether Pau should stay or go instead of overreacting fans on a message board. If you're going to say "trade him!", then I would assume that you have an idea of what team would want Pau and would be willing to offer us somebody in return that significantly helps to improve the team. Since you don't, and have admitted that much, then what are you really providing for discussion? We have a WMC thread for venting. I'd suggest going there if you're upset about how a player is performing.
