Phoenix has enough young talent (Dragic, Bledsoe, Morris twins, Plumlee, Len) and is focused on getting talent for the here and now. They don't need any more mid first round picks.

Pau has had eight straight 20/9 games and has upped his FG% on the year to 46.5%. The time to trade him is most certainly NOW.

Getting two picks in this draft (Wiggins and Cauley-Stein?) is way more valuable for the Lakers in the long run than keeping Pau for another few years.

I had no idea this was the Okafor situation. It is waaaaaay too perfect and I'm wondering why it hasn't already been done. Pau would fit in perfectly with their style and they have a hole at center. They have 3 first rounders. Their highest pick would likely end up being around 17 or 18. Couple that with Okafor and the trade really benefits both teams.

techincally they could get 4 1st rd picks, Minn pick is only top 13 protected and if Minn cont. to hover .500 they'll most likely be picking outside of the top 13.

It might actually be better to get their 2015 pick since we don't have one. Then steal Bledsoe from them in the offseason, Gasol bolts to Memphis and that pick ends up being top 3. lol.

while we do owe Pho a 2015 1st its still top 5 protected from what I recall, so there is some protection if we cont. to suck again next year.

Wow.... I see we're waaaay out on limbs in here......

I think it will be hard to get a first round pick from a team that actually wants Pau to play for them unless it's Memphis. He's as good as there next year barring a trade to Miami or OKC IMO. If we are going to get anything for him it will be from a team unloading contracts to save $$.... then again....why do we want "contracts"?

Maybe if Melo pushes his way out of another team we could trade him to NY and get us another fan favorite to keep the eyeballs on the Lakers... but again that a long shot at best.

My guess is that we yet again are rumored to be moving Pau to a number of teams only to not trade him again... At this point he will serve the same purpose expiring as in a trade. In fact trading him could put guaranteed contracts on the roster and we all know that isn't what they want to do going into the offseason.

I don't see Pau leaving that much money on the table.. If he goes somewhere like Phoenix & puts up the numbers he has here & helps take them to the playoffs he's sure to see offers around 10M.. Memphis only has the MLE to offer.. As for Phoenix or any other team being willing to give up a 1st for him, that's anyones guess.. Phoenix seems to be 1 of the few situations that makes sense, because they have Okafor's expiring contract to trade with a guarantee that they won't get a single game out of him this season, making Pau much more valuable to them on the court.

Anyone think Phoenix would do Okafor and our '15 first rounder back for Pau?

That's possible. Keep in mind that Phoenix also has 3, possibly 4 first rounders THIS year. Them giving up a first rounder plus Okafor is not far fetched. If they had one first rounder and it was top fifteen, then this would be a moot point. But they have (as the records stand right now) like the 17th, 23rd, and 30th pick. I believe someone said they have Minny's as well if Minny can move up a bit in the standings.

Yeah Minny has to be outside the top 13 so they'll have two mid 1st rounders and two late 1st rounders.

The Lakers would make a killing if they traded Gasol for Emeka/Minny's first. Even if Minny keeps it, they've got a pick in the 2015 draft back (top 13 protected). And if they get the pick after all then they get 2 assets in a decent draft. Best case scenario is we get a top 10 pick, the number 14-16 pick, and then we can either use those to get Love or have two solid pieces to build around.

Wiggins and Cauley-Stein? I'd call that a damn good draft.

I was thinking more like Wiggins and Zach Levine. Not sure I like Cauley Stein. He has a sickle cell condition that comes and goes that effects his endurance.

He only played 17 minutes in the loss to LSU and their center (forget his name) had a career night. Cauley-Stein I want no part of.

LaVine is going 10-14 imo. He's going to be much like a Nick Young, JR Smith type player. Pure offensive player who can create his own shot. On the athletic end of the bunch, and a little flashy as well.

Id be surprised if he goes higher, but we still got a lot of college ball to go.

Well, I like him at that spot. I'm guessing we'd get their pick which would be in the 17-18 range. That's why I like LeVine there. I would prefer to have the Suns 2015. We steal Bledsoe from them in the offseason, Pau bolts to Memphis and its a top 3 pick in 2015. We draft Okafor to play center next to our newly signed Love and our wing of the future in Wiggins.

2015 roster
Okafor
Love
Wiggins
Kobe
Bledsoe

Pau said he's getting MRI tomorrow on sore groin. Unclear for next week. Said he's aggravating it in games "and it's not good for anyone."

no love for Gordon?

Lowry or Bledsoe/Farmar/Marshall
Kobe/Young
Gordon/Henry
Love/Hill/R. Kelly
Embiid/some bum/Sacre

athletic D guys at the 3/5 that can roam and cover on all switches for the lack of D at the 2/4. :man1:

Pau Gasol will be out for at least one week after an MRI today showed a strained right groin.

I see what Mitch is doing. :man9:

Let Pau rest a little. It's fine. Kaman will finally get a chance to play 3 minutes. Sacre will get most of the minutes, of course.
