Pau's defense is needed more than anything. Without Dwight we don't have a single big man to block/alter shots or provide any post defense.

^^2 months ago your opinion of Pau was embodied in that quote.... there are a number just like it a few pages back as well. Now you seem to think he's the savior to our season......

Isn't Pau the subject of all of the posts in this thread?

So many emotional knee jerk responses..... we don't know which one is the real you....

Anyway.... your post about needing the one thing Pau is weakest at seemed funny to me.... Even in his best day Pau was never a post defender. He had one stretch against Howard in the finals..... but now I think we can all see that Howard's game might not have been all that in the first place.

Even if your objective was to embarrass me by digging up old posts, you failed because there is nothing in that quote to contradict anything I said in the first post.

Pau hasn't been healthy this entire season and his bad defense at the beginning isn't indicative of what he can give us when healthy. His length and man defense in the post are very useful and a major reason why we were an elite defensive team from 08-11 even though Bynum rarely played and why we didn't suck complete a** during our road trip when Dwight went down. Your assertion that his defense is his weak point is baseless. And no where did I make him out to be our savior.

Honestly that entire post was just terrible, no idea why you made it.

We need a healthy Pau to actually see some success come out of it. We shouldn't rush him.

If he comes back and he doesn't have hops (like he did first half of the season), then he's useless and practically detrimental to our squad.

Oh, and bringing him off the bench and giving him "Spurs" minutes actually worked, so why is D'Antoni changing it? Can't wait to get Meeks out of rotation or something?

Pau is still too soft to make a difference. I don't see him helping much unless he's with the 2nd unit, but if he starts pouting about that then (gulp) put Sacre in. :man3:

Of course Pau Gasoft is a better backup PF/C then Jamison/Clarke, but is he the all-star player we all expect to make a difference for our playoff run? No. I don't expect him to make the impact I would wish for.

Pau should just get the center backup minutes ...he should help us on the boards and our D in the paint when D12 is on the bench ... and be a good option to run the 2nd unit offense through ... if he keeps the "agressivity" we witnessed before his injury

Pau playing starter minutes means :

- our transition D is even worse
- he can't guard today's PFs
- not a floor spacer on O
- will limit Tawn impact in the scoring department

for only one major advantage :
- a great playmaker from the high post .

I wouldn't mind Pau getting important minutes if his conditioning was way better and played harder on D ( rotate and help the helper ( meaning D12).

If we change our unis to red and mango yellow, I think we can see a fierce Gasol...but since the Lakers is merely his cash cow, we shall see a whiny/soft gumby beanpole.

I'm not sure how the idea of Pau coming back could hurt if he's coming off of the bench.

I'd much rather have Gasol in there with Blake/Meeks/Artest/Jamison than Clark.
1. Clark needs to rest.
2. Gasol is a better option protecting the rim, even the way he is now.

Gasol coming back is a good thing no matter how you look at it...

Not if the way you look at it is to throw bombs continuously such as Gasol sucks and all the other Gasol hate from some here. Heading into the playoffs... really that crap helps a lot.

I understand the Pau hate. Yes, he sucked tremendously first half of the season, and everyone wanted him gone including myself.

But he sucked it up off the bench and played great for 15 or so games before his injury. The rest he's getting now is hopefully a blessing in disguise as he should have the energy and hops to play well the rest of the season.

Clark needs some rest, too. He had a sore foot for a while from playing more minutes than he's ever played in his life, thus the decline in his production.

Well he won't come off the bench for long as per MDA

All my points are about playing major minutes with D12 ... Pau is a center on both ends off the floor , he's not a good fit at PF

exactly what i wanted to chime in about

for the simple fact that Earl is beyond gassed, the return of Pau lets him get a much needed breather and get's him fresh for the playoffs...it'll solidify the rotation and ease everyone's minutes

Definitely. Post defense is still decent. He can still block shots. He will help. Savior? No, but even Dwight isn't our savior because our team defense is putrid. Oh and Sacre's a rookie with limited skills/experience, definitely a moot point.

I'm not arguing that. But that doesn't mean we have no use for Gasol. Dwight plays 6 hard minutes, gets a nice rest and our backup is Pau? Well sweet.

Or the other way around. We slow the game down a lot at the start with Gasol/Dwight, but when one goes out we get a huge boost of energy out of Clark and we still have a legit low post option in the game.

All they need to do is play maybe 7 minutes together every half. And if we want to win in the playoffs, that's something they'll have to learn to do anyway.

Pau isn't a good fit with Dwight, this is true.. But he'll help us more than Earl has since he came back to earth. His biggest impact will come with the 2nd unit while Dwight is sitting, but he can still be effective next to Dwight. The game where we beat OKC we saw how effective Pau/Dwight in the high/low is. Pau is a great decision maker & will either make the correct pass or make them pay with the 15 footer if they sag.

^Gasol will probably be there during crunch time as 24 trusts him implicitly. He also gives Nash another option which he has spoken of at the beginning of the season. The caveat here is will D'Antoni insist in parking Gasol further out from the key?
