Pau Thread: Surgery a success; now rehab & rest for 12 weeks

Pau's been fine in terms of offense & physicality (except for that short bad stretch guarding Curry).

Why we have him playing so many minutes and so far away from the basket is baffling.

I understand he's got to play away from the basket to space the floor for Howard, but he needs to get touches down low too. He's still one of the most talented post players in the league and he's not being allowed to operate there.

Meanwhile he's simply playing way too many minutes. Same as last year. We have to competent backups for him in Jamison and HIll yet he's being run into the ground.

Pau's Had a Great Start He's Been Our Most Consistant Player So Far This Season

Pau is trying his best to make me not like him. Why isn't he sucking playing for Spain

Another year of soft play coming up. That's a raw deal at this point for $19mil. We need someone with fresh legs and a hunger for more.

Not good, Pau. Not good. I have always defended you, but come on... You have to be able to play better then this. You have Odom-itis right now.

The only time Gasoft leaves it all out on the floor is when he's playing for Spain.

Not hard to see where his priorities and loyalties are.

He played great defense on Griffin, he was too passive on offense and got lost in the shuffle. Sucks

He gave up way too many easy layups and shots around the basket and provided no help to Dwight.

I've given up on Pau since the Hornets series, but I'm going to try to offer some excuse.

Mike Brown has played him 40 minutes (or darn near) in all 3 games. He plays him in huge chunks, tonight the entire 12 min first quarter. Pau is playing like a passionless slug because he is gassed, and when he's not gassed, he's still playing reserved because he knows he has to pace himself. IDk...maybe I'm wrong.

Gasol is the LAST worry on this team. I mean LAST worry.

Played amazing D on Griffin, but WTF happened to his offense?

Pau is happy and content that he already got two rings, he has nothing to prove here already and his aggressive to the game is long gone.

He lacked the aggressiveness tonight. Seemed like he was intent on trying to run the offense. This team is definitely lacking an identity right now. None of the players know what they should be doing out there.

His shot was off today...3 games in 4 nights of 40+ minutes might actually affect your legs a bit. His effort on rebounds was mixed...on a couple of occasions he scrapped and aggressively hit the glass. The rest of the time he passively ball watched. Overall his rebounding sucked. His offense was mainly garbageman stuff. To be fair, Dwight was no real help on the boards either.

He went 5/9 tonight so I wouldn't say his shots were off tonight. But his soft plays are just beyond ugly. That play where Chris Paul mustled the ball away from him? YIKES.

I actually think he's been solid for the team so far this young season. His passing ability really changes the way teams need to defend when the offense is actually running smoothly. They're giving him the ball on the low block already much more than they did last season.

He's done alright. His defense has been pretty awful, but part of that is because the schemes we run expose all of his weaknesses (namely his athleticism). Offensively he's been better than I expected. He's attacking more, he's got that nice little floater in the lane going, and he's moving the ball very nicely.

But if Brown insists on playing him into the ground, he's going to get injured too. We have two f***ing capable guys ready and willing to back him up in Jamison and Hill and he refuses to use them properly. I mean Howard has been in foul trouble and we're STILL not using the depth we have.

Agreed but our bench's lack of scoring necessitates that we have either he or Howard on the floor with them....

We've built a great group that start..... the ones on the bench.... not so much.
