Pau Thread: Surgery a success; now rehab & rest for 12 weeks

Pau is playing exactly how I'd want him to offensively! He's so skilled that there's no reason he can't adjust to D'antoni's system. And he's shown that in these past three games. He doesn't need the ball in the post to be effective.

I saw a few posts after the Denver game mentioning that even if Pau's hitting threes, it's bad for the team and he shouldn't make a habit of it. I don't expect him to hit 2-3 every night, but I disagree completely. He has the touch to become a consistent three point shooter, especially since he'll only be getting those looks when he's wide open. If Pau can become our stretch four, in addition to his playmaking and occasional post play, he's too valuable of an asset on offense to trade, despite his defensive flaws.

Not saying we shouldn't be keeping an eye on the market for him, but if he can keep this up consistently, I'm liking what I see.

Step in the right direction for Pau ... He needs a couple of these type of performances in big games then he may be definetely back

best all around game all year. if he can play defense like that every night, this team will improve dramatically.

Actually I think Pau is still capable of out playing Aldridge from time to time because Aldridge isn't great at anything but scoring. The problem is I've never seen him catch and shoot very often. He's more of an iso, find his spot, type of guy. Who knows if he'd be comfortable catching and shooting.

It isn't a matter of "want" but a matter of need to. His salary size can bring back 2 or 3 players that would fit the system better than he does and maybe bring some athleticism this team sorely needs.

I missed this game but I just finished watching the highlights, wow! Pau looked great out there. No hesitation, quick, decisive moves to score. And his defense appeared to be fantastic. He looked extremely confident out there, lets hope he broke through the mental barrier and plays like this consistently.

Instead of whining about touches and getting to certain spots on the floor in the media, make your own opportunities and be aggressive when you get the ball.

Example - The Pau shake and bake. Getting the ball on the 3 point line, driving, shaking, baking and getting a wide open hook shot.

He didn't get the ball where he WANTS it, but he took it there, was aggressive and got what he wanted. Haven't seen that move in 3 years.

Aggressive and active Pau, the Pau we saw tonight both offensively and defensively is what we need, not shrugs.

I dont want him shooting 3s, Im sorry, hes too good of an offensive rebounder to be hanging around the 3 point land. Its not a sustainable thing.

I do like his aggressiveness however. Rest well the next 3 days and get ready for Tuesdays game. Encouraged by the "fight" Pau has showed the last 2 games, hes competing thats all we can ask for. But need more games like this

Well yeah for this system we need more consistent jump shooter at 4 ... not saying they are better players - just saying they fit better ... I mean every time I see Aldrigde play it seems like that dude can't miss ... it usually takes Pau more time to settle for a jump shots ... set his hands, stance etc.

You're rigth we don't see Aldridge catch and shoot that often ... but I still think he would fit better this type of offense

Pau taking three's doesn't bother me; as long as it's not many. If he can make 2-3 every game, that would be perfect. Just enough to space the floor and have his man come out to the three point line to create more space in the paint. Pau can also drive, post-up, and pass; his versatility within this offense can be great.

Exactly. It's not as if his threes don't make sense within the offense. They're not pull up threes in transition or anything, they're just occasional to keep the defense honest around the rim. They're good looks. Within context, they're fine shots.

Especially since we also look for him down low and at the mid post through the course of the game.

Can't believe people here still want to trade him. He gives us a great option on offense and is a decent defender. Unless we get a package of equal value, why would you trade him? If you're getting less talent back, what's the point? Like i said i rather keep him now and IF we get a trade it would make much more sense to do it at the all-star break or next season when he's expiring. That way at least we get good players back.

I would trade him in a heartbeat for the right offer...

too old, too expensive and too bad of a fit in the offense to really be worth what he is getting paid. Thats not my opinion, its a well known and long debated fact at this point.

^i'd trade any of the lakers for the right offer at this point. even kobe for the right price.
