Whenever he does try to post up he gets pushed out and ends up shooting fadeaways. Even when he's being guarded by someone much shorter. People keep saying Pau is more effective playing in the post but that's just not true anymore. He's equally bad anywhere. He can no longer create his own shots. He only scores when Kobe or whoever sets him up.

His 1 on 1 post defense is really good, hes rebounding well but he cant shoot the ball well now....hovering around 40% and he gets the ball knocked out of his hand far too easily. Green and Parker stole secured rebounds away from him

When hes in with the 2nd unit hes not posting up at all, same ish like last year. Hes floating in the perimeter and giving the ball to MWP, Jamison or Hill & getting out of the way

don't even get me started. wasn't aggressive at all until the very end and instead of calling time out he shoots a 3...

the fact that he can stroll into a double double means he needs to be more aggressive for 48 mins! not 2. I think he's got a lot to do and he better start now. Nash being out has screwed up everything prob more than Dwight or Kobe being out. also Blake being out too

I think Pau might be on quite a decline here on offense. There seems to be an erosion of post up and scoring skills

Dude is taking 3.5 shots per game from 3 to 9 feet and hes shooting 12% from the field...WTF

http://hoopdata.com/player.aspx?name=Pau%20Gasol

From 10 to 15 feet...shooting 20% (43% last year)
From 16 to 23 feet...shooting 35% (43% last year)...takes almost 5 shots per game from this distance

His passing looks good, his 1 on 1 defense looks good, his rebounding looks good, Im just not sure we can count on this guy for scoring anymore, kind of like Lamar. You just hope he gives you 10 rebounds, plays good defense and minimizes his mistakes

All year last year and even this year, this guy is not posting up when hes the best player with the 2nd unit. Hed gladly pass it into the post to MWP or Hill or Jamison and just float outside

We may have to realize he needs to be a center in order to thrive. We may need to move him for everyone's best interest if Mike Dan Tony's offense doesn't cure anything. Hate to give up that kind of length and smarts though.

Pau: "Hopefully ill get closer looks to the basket bc most of my looks have been outside the key and i like to mix it up a little more, make it a little more balanced if possible'

Then move your body into the post!! I hope D'Antoni will do this with his schemes. We didnt lose this game solely bc of Pau...we've gotta get the lose balls and keep them from getting 2nd chance points. Too many times we've gotta defensive rebounds and dont fully grab them and knock them out of bounds...most of the time fighting with each other to grab the boards and it flies out of bounds or off a knee.

Pau's total reluctance and inability to post up anymore is bad bad news folks. That turn around baseline fadeaway again Diaw in the second quarter disgusted me to no ends.

Pau is now a poor version of Channing Frye on offense.

First it was girlfriend issues in 2010. We gave him a pass.

Next it was showcasing Bynum in 2011. He was traded for D12.

This season, it was Mike Brown's lack of coaching. We fired him after 5 games.

Now here we are with pau still playing the worse in his career (3/10 with poor defense last night) and people are still trying to find excuses for him (see if he can fit MDA's system)?

Wake up Laker Fans! He's not going to get better regardless of what we try to do with him at the 4 for the same reasons I keep harping (old, too slow, can't shoot well enough, mentally soft at 4/5), just like putting derek fisher at any system isn't going stop him from being one of the worst pg's in the league (despite what he did for P and G). The fact he keeps saying he needs to be in the post speaks volumes; as if we weren't telling him that last season. Also is dwight going to shoot jumpers instead?

Get rid of him now so that we don't to experience the incomming meltdown come playoff time.

Yes, Pau we know you've been harping on this for 2 years now. But guess what you don't anything with the ball when you do get it in the post. For example, Pau gets a pass in the paint, wide open, doesn't even look to score, immediately turns around and passes it to MWP, who has to take a difficult shot.

So sick of these passive aggressive responses from him.

Dude you shot fadeaways when guarded by Diaw and freaking Crowder ( how tall is this guy , 6'6, 6'7 ?) in the post... same as last season with Faried and Al guarding you .. hell you didn't even want to post the likes of Dirk last season

How much he gets paid is not relevant...it's a contract signed in the past, based on the quality of services rendered in the past as well.

He has limited touches (10-15 shots) to do what he can...he's had some good nights and he's had some bad ones. Nailing that mid range J is harder than it looks. So far he's been okay with it. I'm not going criticize him for his FG% after only 8 games (sample size).

I expect his FG% to rise to the mean (50%-53%) just as I expect Kobe's to regress overtime...

Pau is not a jumpshooting power forward, but he's been squeezed into that role for the past two seasons and has tried to do the best he can, but it's clear that he needs some easier looks at the basket, and I hope the new offense get him some of those.

Yes Pau, please do. Would you like me to be there on the floor for you and carry you to the painted area so you can mix it up a little? :man9:

he's runned out of excuses for me and I'm a big fan of his too........he's all talk at this point, talks bout defense being a key emphasis during camp but yet one of the weak links in our PnR D but thats a given I suppose with his slow footedness. Always talks about going into the paint more everytime he has an off shooting night but nothing changes...time and time again we see him out there w/o Dwigh and Bynum last year but he conts. to float around the perimiter and when he does actually post its usually some weak lame fade away tempt with his yelling in hopes of getting a foul called

LOL no. Pau has never ever ever...gotten a pass. In 2010, all the hate and vitriol was directed at Pau. He was to blame for it all. Even when we were going to Finals in 2008 on...within his first two months here you got "Gasoft", "Paussy"...and any number of insults to his manhood.

The Pau hate has always had this racist (Euros are soft) tinge to it, and it's been there simmering at near fanatic levels waiting to explode whenever something might go wrong.

Does he make mistakes?...absolutely, and I am frustrated to see them, but he's not the only one. There were a lot of mistakes last night to go around. Pau can play better, and he's not playing poorly for a lack of trying.

Let's just say he's gone soon, you'll see how much greener the grass is on the other side.

I love Pau. He's a great guy and one of my favorite players, but he's gotta get it together. Just 10 points tonight. That's unacceptable coming from a guy who is the 3rd option and one of the highest paid players in the league. Not ready to give up on him yet because I wanna see how he does in Mike's system and also playing with Steve Nash, but if he's still struggling after that than a move needs to be made. The Lakers can't afford to be paying 20 million for a guy who is playing like a role player.

I think we need to see Pau in the new system and sees how he does. I think he'll be fine, but who knows until we get there. When Pau is an expiring I fully expect him to be moved, though. If we somehow manage to win this year though I think all bets are off.

I dont see much change in his game unless Dantoni change's his O for him, Howard will most likely be the roll type guy on PnR, Pau will be the Pn Pop guy.....I hope I'm wrong but I didn't see much post game offensively with Dantoni offense but maybe he just didn't have the personnel for it in Pho/Ny.
