Pau ran out of excuses the minute he blamed his poor play on his girlfriend.

The fast break where he dribbles through his legs is one of my favorite plays I have seen of Pau, so much joy and some swag :jam2:

I thought that was 2 years ago when his "off-court" issues resulted in sexual assault by Dirk in the playoffs.

i don't see ANYTHING he can't be doing now barring his knee tendonitis.

when dwight is out of the game, HE is the man in the post. kobe rarely plays in the post nowadays which seems also strange to me. but he has so much more confidence and ability when playing through the post, EVEN WITH BYNUM AT CENTER.

either he's lost his desire to play or he really is getting old. he should not be settling for jumpers and playing so weak.

@LakersReporter
There are no restrictions for @paugasol tonight. He said he's feeling good, has the explosion he lacked early in season back.

Let's see what he's got tonight

Pau needs to be more selfish plain and simple.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Watching that makes me miss Ariza. :man6: Like I said in the Ebanks thread, wish we could have him back to play on the second unit with Gasol, Hill, Meeks, and Blake (when healthy).

Was watching this last night, Lakers/Celtics game 7 2010.

(couldn't get it to embed, thank you Ariza3)

Watch Pau's highlights in this video. Look at the post moves he displays, the aggression with which he fights towards the hoop, the passion he shows when making big shots and plays, how engaged he is overall, how he fights to box out to try and get offensive boards, how when he gets that first one early in the video he fights down low and gets the bucket surrounded by 3 Celtics, and the smart passing he displays. This was the last time Pau played that hard/well in the playoffs, if just SOME of that guy can come back we would be so much better. I understand he's lost hops and he's older, but I still think he can bring the effort we see there, to me it's motivation.

Side not, dang Ron had a good game 7, we don't win that game without him, he earned that ring with us.

I hope he can get his physical and timidity (for whatever reason) problems behind him and start approaching this level again by the playoffs. Tendinitis in the knees is going to be a tough nut to crack. But if he really wants to stay a Laker he needs to show them now.

Did anyone else hear on I guess it was Mason/Ireland a couple weeks ago they said that Lakers front office had conversation with Pau's agent and as much as told him Pau's time to step it up and start delivering again or they're going to look to move him. Trying to light a fire again it sounds like.

Awesome little video. Give us that guy back. Hope he can do it.

still my favorite lakers game, i still remember that game so clearly

i miss the old pau, the one we were so used to seeing from 08-10. honestly, im not relieved or anything that he's back in the lineup. it's not like he was missed or anything with the way he's been playing. he obviously needs to step it up but at this point, can he? it's clear he's on the decline. sucks to see but it happens. and like someone said earlier, you could tell he was having fun back then. not so much these days it seems

if we go to him early in the possession like kobe said then he should get some good looks and be able to be selfish and if he cant do anything against the D then he'll be able to make the right pass to ANY player not just kobe...but that requires guys to move without the ball and cut, off ball screens, etc. Jamison should be able to be aggressive there and he should.

I think Pau over the season will become huge for us. He'll help with ball movement without Nash which is what were doing now and what mike wants...

Haha at #3 and :man10: at #1 probably the best reaction ever in sports
Before long, someone recognized Phil Jackson sitting in the front seat, and then the rocks began to fly. Revelers pelted the bus and shook it, mocking the Lakers at their lowest moment.

It was painful,” Lakers forward Pau Gasol(notes) said. “It is a feeling that I want to keep in my mind for every single minute that I’m out there playing them.

looks rusty as hell to me. got off-footed on a drive, missed two or three open jumpers badly. gotta give him a few games. i did like that he got a post touch while howard was in the game. there's no reason they can't do that frequently. if howard's man doubles, howard just rolls for the oop, so pau should get to work against his man or draw a double from a perimeter player (i'd make that kobe's or meeks's man when possible). i think there are ways for this to work.

but yeah, pau's going to need a few games and practices to get back to speed.
