Gasol was awesome. The team's offense was perfect whenever he was in the game.

I noticed this too. He was the only one not standing up on the bench and when Nash hit the big 3 he was just clapping slightly.

I saw no reason in this game for him being benched at the end of the game. He was +21, by far the best on the team while all the starters finished in negative. I think D'Antoni doesn't know a damn about personnel management.

MDA said in his presser that he wanted to bring Pau bad, but the Pelican went small so he decided not to.

I was pissed for Pau Gasol.

No idea why D'antoni didn't play Gasol and kept jamison in during the entire 4th period.

Even though the boxscore doesn't show it... Gasol was the MVP of this game. SO Much ball movement when things run through Gasol in the post. Gasol was +21 for the night. (In comparison... no starter was positive for the night)

Breakdown.

Quarter 1
NOH-LAL
16-12 for the hornets when Gasol checks in with 5:58 left.
24-25 at the end of the 1st. (4 pt loss became a 1 point lead with Gasol in)

Quarter 2
NOH-LAL
24-25 to start the quarter (Gasol starts the quarter)
24-35 when Gasol checks out with 8:41 left. (1 pt lead was increased to an 11 pt lead with Gasol in)
30-37 when Gasol checks in with 5:13 left. (11 pt lead was reduced to a 7 pt lead while Gasol was out)
42-54 to end the quarter. (7 pt lead was increased to a 12 pt lead with Gasol finishing out the quarter)

Quarter 3
NOH-LAL
42-54 to start the quarter. Gasol did not start the 3rd
58-67 when Gasol enters with 6:52 left (12 pt lead was decreased to a 9 pt lead while gasol was out)
73-83 to end the quarter (9 pt lead increased to a 10 pt lead)

Quarter 4
NOH-LAL
106-111 to end the game, Gasol did not play the entire quarter (10 pt decreased to a 5 pt lead)

I'm on the no to trading Pau side. Today's game was a real eye opener for me.

While I wasn't at the meeting in Memphis so I cant say with 100% certainty but I'm confident Kobe's "selfishness" was brought up at the meeting.

I read Gasol's statement as more of a summary of what was discussed at the team meeting last week as opposed to it being a jab at Kobe.

Also, let me point you to two tweets from Kobe which fit in nicely.

Should have been Pringles, now Pau is doing coaching work. I don't think that at this stage in the history Pau wanted or liked calling Kobe out. He's only stating the obvious.

Can't believe Pau is still whining about not being out there at the end when we won the game. We won, that's all that matters, if that's going to be his attitude I still try and trade him.

He did look and seem a lot happier in his post game interview than he did when the game was almost over. To be fair...

Pau is more than an actual Lakers player. He has a reputation to defend in the NBA and outside. Only taking into account his Fiba resume he can be a HOF. If he finds his benching difficult to swallow when he's playing like crap, how do you expect he would react when he's playing well?. Pau is a good teammate and a very unselfish player but he's a great and he has his pride. I think he feels like being disrespected by Pringles. If this trend continues I wouldn't be surprised if he demands a trade.

Yeah, it definitely seemed like he was calling Kobe out. The "certain individuals" comment, was a dig at someone...

I really wish he would realize the fact that the team is playing well now and he should just accept his new role here. There's no need to feed the media firestorm with those type of comments...

And if that twitter blurb about him "Not appreciating," whatever, continues...I'm sure his a** will be shipped out on the next thing smoking pretty soon.

And that's unfortunate, because we could really use his talents off the bench for the remainder of the season.

I get why Pau feels like that. He's competitive and wants to contribute when the game is on the line. There's nothing wrong with that. But he needs to keep it to himself. His teammates are playing well and they're winning. He lost his minutes in crunch time for a reason and just needs to play through it and continue to contribute when he can. The rest will take care of itself.

I like Pau a lot, so I hope he can get over this soon.

I agree with what Doc first said a couple of posts up and you of course that he should have been in more at the end. And your following thought about the stability and cohesion. Pau has had his starting position taken and minutes reduced and even though not happy at all about it, stepped up and played better with more energy and passion since. So he's reasonably bought in. But then Dan further effs with him by not being consistent with him playing when the game is on the line and it tends to do more harm than good..... If he has been playing well and working hard on his D. He has been better. Yeah the Pelicans went smaller but there is just so much to be said for consistency in players' roles to get the very best out of them. You just got so used to seeing it with Phil. Then came Mike and Dan with much more seat of the pants, what have you done for me in the last 10 minutes rotations.
