See, but that is what I don't understand. You play for your country to try and win a medal. You do all this philanthropy, because as a human being, you're trying to make a difference in this world. You sacrifice for the team cause you feel that it will lead to more success.
The desire to achieve is still there in Pau, otherwise why partake in other matters that matter...

Okay, let me try that again...he can collect his salary and just call it a day. Instead, he does alot...ALOT...off the court. He still has alot of love for his country and does what he can for them during summer basketball.
If he didn't want to compete and try to win titles, after he won 2, then why take the botched trade so badly? He still gets paid and goes to a team that wants him....but his championship aspirations decrease. A player that cares and wants to win, will not be receptive in getting traded out of that opportunity...which is exactly how Pau reacted.
To question his heart and desire to win is well....questionable!
IMHO, his regression is more coaching incapacity/FO insanity & deteriorating physicality, rather than a quitter's mentality.
