Pau Thread: Surgery a success; now rehab & rest for 12 weeks

Actually the answer is pretty simple ... some players are sastified with winning one or a couple times ... while the all time greats are always hungry for more ...

Most of Pau decline has to do with the mental approach of the game ... he isn't willing to make the extra effort or take the constant beating/ physical play in the paint anymore as he was in 09 and 2010 .... all of this obviously wear a player down physically ... this is when the " win at all costs " mentality does the job or not

Why do you think Pau looks like a beast in the Gold medal game ? because he wanted to win the Gold at all cost and was all in mentally .

That being said , all the minutes Pau has played these latest 5-6 years have speed up his decline too ... Summer 06,07,08, 09 , 2011 and 2012 ... VERY few NBA players would be able to maintain a high level of play after all this

I agree. Some players, are just satisfied winning their first championship ring. Then, they lose all motivation to go for a second ring because perhaps, it doesn't seem to bring any extra motivational value.

On the other hand, you have players like Jordan and Bryant, who are absolutely determined to win at all costs and just hate losing in general. They are absolutely determined and become more motivated to win more rings as if their next championship ring was their first one.

Sadly, I think the loss to MIA deterred any real thoughts of trading Pau. The FO probably thinks that the season is already lost in the sense of winning a chip, that trading Pau now won't be enough to take us over the hump because his value is way too low.

They'll wait til the offseason to unload him and his 20 mil expiring and get alot better offers.

Well, Pau scored a lot of points on a great shooting percentage, so that must mean he's still capable of being a star here right? Oh wait, there's that other side to the floor, where he grabbed 5 rebounds, had one block, and put up no resistance at the rim.

solid offensive game...but just awful play on other side...
he should realy come from the bench...he was outplayed again by clark...
no hustle and no heart...he scored basicly meaningless points...
if someone wants the defend him...just watch him standing alone in paint with hands down after missed deep 3 and fields easily grabing rebound over him...that play sums his whole season...

IMO, having him play closer to the basket on the offensive end today showed how effective he can still be when he's aggressive. As it stands when this team, he's just not what we need right now. We need more defensive minded players badly.

he needs to come off the bench. this game proved what he can do when dwight isnt in the paint with him.

clark needs to start with dwight and build the lead up and start the team off with solid defense. jamison and pau can come in and play bad but decent d for a bit and own the paint on O.

meeks needs to play too...its just unacceptable that duhon and morris get more minutes than him and literally do nothing...absolutely nothing. morris d is overrated and meeks can do the same imo while hitting 3's and being way more energized and aggressive. what happened to dantoni loving meeks and what he brings....sure cant be less than duhon or morris

Even when he's at his best offensively, it's still not enough to help us find ways to consistently score and it's definitely not enough to counteract his poor defense. Pau's 25 points could have easily been re-distributed over three quality bench players (let's say D. Williams, Kirilenko, and Barea for example) but with better defense.

he looked much more at home minus howard, but it doesn't translate to wins. hopefully, some team with a roster that can cover his defensive deficiencies was watching today and makes a good offer for him.
