Pau Thread: Surgery a success; now rehab & rest for 12 weeks

I appreciate Pau Gasol.

I think Kobe started to fatigue a lil towards the end and in OT. He's been having to expend alot of energy with Drew out. That's why he started settling only for Jumpers. Luckily we have a guy name Pau Gasol AND LAMAR ODOM...can't believe I said that!!!

I think this game proves that this team is turning the corner regarding their softness issues.

I'm very proud that Gasol was dunking everything he could around the rim. might not seem like much but that DOES send a message. Also, to Odom for stepping up with contributions and not backing down to KG in your face act.

Good second half for Jordy as well. Without his contributions with Kobe and Pau on bench we don't make a game of it.

Thank Jesus for Gasol. Still wonder how the hell did we get him for nothing (Kwame). Somebody pinch me.

Pau had a relatively weak streak when Bynum emerged but since Bynum is out, he has been nothing short of absolutely spectecular...

Cuz Kobe was content to Jack 'em from deep. When you have someone who is attacking the hoop, give him the ball. Pau was in attack mode while Kobe was playing a bit soft(hardly aggressive). I say give the ball to the guy who is getting better looks. I think that is reasonable.

Pau was huge last night. He ripped down some rebounds down the stretch when the rest of the team forgot how to rebound (don't get me wrong, he even let some get away but compared to everyone else...), he put the clamps down on KG in a few possessions in the 4th, he was scoring at will in the 2nd half (if only we would have gone to him more but I make that complaint every single night), and he got the game winning block against a flopping Ray Allen.

He's been outstanding since Drew has gone down. Way to pick up the slack. He continues to have some of the quietest big games though because Kobe usually steals the headline.

I also think he was sick of hearing the soft label from the Finals. He played physical. Still didn't get much love from the refs but what else is new. He didn't back down from their bullyball. And after the Rondo vs. Kobe incident, you could tell he started getting more emotional and more vocal out there.

Gasol's two crucial blocks down the stretch were HUGE keys. The one on Davis was nice which lead to the Odom free throws. Gasol has a lot of pride. Magnifico!

How can Gasol appreciation thread has less post than Morrison's?
Yes Odom was fantastic but don't forget he scored at least half of his points thanks to Gasol's clever passes.

People don't appreciate Gasol enough. He brings so much to this team. I loved when Lamar (who was mic-ed) said to Kobe: ..."yeah man, he... he set me up... amazing!"

Gasol had another great game today. He looked rather weak at times, but he was playing the whole 2nd half. He did great out there.

44 minutes per game the last 3 games, with a OT.

If it wasn't for Kobe, he should be Player of the Week.

another solid gm by Gasol but that 44 mpg is rather concering...hopefully he doesn't get worn out before Drew gets back

Gasol rules... underrated imo

So this makes, i think, 62/14 as his record on Regular Season with Lakers.

Near 42 minutes yesterday... Phil it's nice to see it's the player you trust for playing the most part of the games, but he really needs to get some serious rest before May!

This. He is starting to look really fatigued out there sometimes. I kind of wish he wasn't going to the ASG so he could get even more rest, or that Phil would actually use Mbenga! I don't know if they're trying to make Mihm look like he's worth a crap for a trade or something, but he is awful out there. Mbenga could be no worse....

Anyway, congrats Pau and such a great season so far.

Time for a bump. This guy plays so many minutes, works hard, gets fouled non-stop.

Yet, he gets 36/11//7 with 2 blocks, 2 steals... these are insane numbers.

All that while shooting 74%.

No one is that efficient, no one.

He really carried us today.

Pau is an incredible player. His skill set is pretty close to being unrivaled by the other big men of the league. His low post footwork is somthing every big man in this league short of Duncan should take extensive notes on. His ability to play big minutes and stay on the floor has been huge for us all year.

All-Star.
