Hey all,

A lot to catch up on – got a chance to talk to both Pau and Rambis the last couple of days:

Grudges?!! This guys career was saved from first round exits and failure by the Lakers and Kobe. Lets not forget that what we've seen the last 3 years IS Pau Gasol..... The 3 years between Memphis and the last 3 are the outlier.......

can't agree with this sentiment one bit. he was great in Memphis. nobody is saying the guy can be your #1 option and lead you deep into the playoffs. however, he's an incredible #2 option. obviously he's deteriorated with age, but to downplay this guy's skill and contribution to the basketball court is just :man3: .
i just don't understand this post at all.

So Pau should begrudge the Lakers for daring to trade him? Ummm .. OK.

I don't think he ever won a playoff game before he came here. In his first season here the Celtics ran over him... plain and simple. He showed something the next year dominating Howard and again the next year as well. Then it was back to "white swan".

You took some liberty with my post and put some words in my mouth that I didn't say..... I think I've only seen one big man ever more fundamentally talented than him (Kareem) yet he crumbles 90% of the time when it's time to play under the bright lights. This has nothing to do with his "skill". That's just the point.... all the pundits focus on the phrase "most skilled big man" and stuff like that..... while when they talk about Kobe it's "killer instinct"..... "winner".... "dedicated"..... etc.

The notion that he could even be holding a "grudge" is a little funny to me. 2 championships and a contract that paid him the 3rd most in the league for 5 years...... and he's somehow upset?....

^ put words in your mouth? Really? I said you're downplaying his contributions. Which you are. Crumbles 90% of the time? Hyperbole at its finest. I've been tough on Pau the last couple of years, but to endure 2 years of trade rumors and not hold a grudge is kind of a big deal. These guys are human. You can be grateful for being put in a great situation but I think a lot of guys would be pretty frustrated to be traded, have it nixed, and then be in constant rumors ever since. To me it seems as though you're dehumanizing his situation.

Maybe Gasol didn't mean it in that way -- that he deals with the business side emotionally. I think someone probably asked him that question which led him to answer the way he did ("Pau, do you hold any grudges against the Lakers for what it seemed like they didn't appreciate you the way they should?"). So I don't think Pau is a sensitive person like most people think. We don't even live with that guy so how would any of us knows what Pau Gasol is like off the court? Anyway, the media has always been portraying him as a "weak/sensitive" or whatever you want to call it type-of-person and I feel like Pau doesn't deserve that.

Now you're really reaching. you're saying this guy's career was a failure outside of 3 years with the Lakers, and that he crumbles 90% of the time; yet when i say you're dehumanizing the situation, I'M the one who's exaggerating? :freak2:
