Pau Gasol 'probably not' open to coming off the bench

Hey all,

Pau Gasol 'probably not' open to coming off the bench
http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakersnow ... 7723.story

That’s pretty significant – not only does he want to start – but he wants to finish games. That’s an issue if the fit just isn’t right. The fit may not be right.

Also:
Heat end Lakers' win streak with victory at Staples, 99-90

Couldn't find a better definition for " self entitlement" after reading Pau's quotes .

I definetely didn't believe a humain being like Pau could become a cancer for our team .

Not sure why he's fighting it so much
There are guys like Jamal Crawford, JR Smith, Kevin Martin, among others who thrive in that 6th man role. He obviously can't play along side Dwight, is a liability on defense, is constantly getting hurt, obviously needs to rest his legs since he can't hang with this up-tempo style of play, it would seem that role is perfect for him.
What's his deal with not wanting to do it? Everyone seems content with sacrificing their game for what's best for the team except Pau.
I should get an assist for that. It's an intentional pass to oneself, so it's an assist. That way people can't say all I do is shoot.

Sorry Pau, we are already too old and too slow with Kobe and Nash in the starting lineup, we need Clark youth, energy, athletic and his versatile defensively that fit better with our starters to start and close the game, we need to keep winning to get into the playoffs and can't afford any more losing, accept your bench role as a 6th man and stop whining please.

as if his name doesn't already warrant being traded, those comments should. Goes to show guy has no idea how much of a detriment he is to the team right now with his play.

I'd say "half a way" player.... I'd probably throw up if I divided his total point this season by his salary.....

I don't blame Pau for saying he's not open to coming off the bench. Most athletes wouldn't, let alone a two time NBA Champion. Having said that, the writing is on the wall. Lakers have need areas and Pau isn't a good fit in D'toni's offense as a PF next to DHoward.

Lakers need to upgrade the SF position and find future replacement for Steve Nash. Time for a trade and I expect one to do down involving Pau Gasol soon.

He's dropping his trade value by making it clear he's not comfortable. It's really time to cut it off now before this gets worse and we end up having to take less than even the partial value we're getting now.

F***ing trade him already Mitch! Get it done!

I think the majority of NBA general managers still see Pau's value as a starting center but yeah the longer we prolong this the worse it is going to get. If we cannot get somebody like Monte, Josh Smith, Batum or Wesley Matthews then we just need to cut our losses and trade him for some bench help like Sessions and Ben Gordon.

The longer we wait though the less chemistry we will have if we are lucky enough to make the playoffs.

If we're waiting for better deals in the off-season, then we should just shut him down for the year.

As someone else mentioned, it's hard to play good team defense when one of your players is a construction cone.

If it happens at all it won't happen until much closer to the deadline IMO. The smoke we are seeing about the possibility that Howard doesn't re-sign is not really relevant to our situation IMO. If Howard doesn't re-sign a team with Kobe, Pau and Nash isn't going anywhere either.... and we'd get nothing in return for Howard.... so there is no real correlation for Kobe's last year under contract IMO....

That's my point. I know we can get better value from him next year in February, but that's sacrificing not only this season, but next season. Are we really willing to do that? We're supposed to be going all in for it these next two seasons for Kobe. If that's true, we need to get rid of him NOW so we have time to build a positive environment like we had with Clark starting.

It angers me so much because I know how good he is and he's just wasting away on our team because it sounds like he's mailed it in. Just doesn't care anymore to play for this team

Something that has always bugged me about him is his inability to give a decisive answer. It's always "probably" or "I think". Represents his personality pretty well though

Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic

Josh Smith

Some of the names we missed out on. Wait any longer and we get absolutely... nothing. Mitch has gotta do something.

it really is time to cut our losses and get as much as we can for Pau...this is the type of cancerous attitude that WILL ruin any chance of the team turning things around

An OG poster here by the name of Sky used to use the phrase "a one trick pony without the trick." That's Pau now. Also, "slower than a banana slug with a limp." Haha
