Pau played great, a little rusty, but really did it all and even played solid defense. Ball movement was great when he was in the game, jumper didn't drop but other than that, I'm content with what I saw.

He was ok. As others noted already, he looked rusty. Good passing, defense was adequate, etc...

besides minute managing, if hes on fire and making good plays, they shouldn't switch him out. if hes balling and things are going fine, why shouldn't he?

im looking forward for him to dust off the rust

He had a pretty good game. Facilitated and blocked some shots. He was moving well out there. Didn't seem to have any pain in his knees.

I thought it was a pretty great comeback game for Pau. Missed some shots/had rust, but had some critical rebounds that helped win the game. Pau can really box out when he tries. Smart player. Some great passes of course, too.

So he was ineffective? I didn't watch the game, and Pau's been closing games with us since he's been here....

was rusty on his shot for sure but passed very well and got guys involved. the first play of the game was VERY nice too bad dwight got fouled.

Defense was not terrible only bc his post defense was better than his perimeter which is expected from a 7 footer. would like to see him out there to finish games and that is up to mike. playing metta at the 4 is good but not at the expense of benching pau imo against tougher opponents.

i understand tonight it was simply being able to keep morris and meeks in to guard sessions and kemba so thats understandable.

has a little better lift at the beginning but towards the end you could tell he was tired as he couldnt rebound to save his life. kobe certainly trusts him more than pau...all those nice bounce passes would be amazing with dwight. idk why he doesnt do that with dwight but im sure itll work out later

Nah, I'm just referencing the first game D'Antoni coached, when he bench Pau in the 4th. MDA said that and media ran with it.

But I agree with others when they say he defended and facilitated tonight. Good 1st game back IMO

"Pau Gasol has given the Lakers a lot and I don't feel he's getting enough in return, especially as far as confidence," Rubio said in a conference call earlier today. "But he's a pro. If he goes to another team, I think he would make a contender out of that team. Wherever he goes, he's going to be fighting for the title." - Ricky Rubio

well maybe a trade will happen with the timberwolves...especially if dantoni plans on benching pau in close games and playing metta at the 4

I don´t think he was ineffective at all. He had 10 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. For someone who was coming back from injury and hadn´t played in a while, I think he´s done a very good job. He looked a little rusty, I agree, but that was somehow expected.

very solid game. offense and the J will come back around, but he looked much more fluid out there.

i also thought he did a pretty decent job on the pick and roll.

1st game back & he did it all on the floor in limited minutes, bad shooting, that's about it & it was expected, he also had a couple throwback fives to the rim while palming the ball with one hand.

He looked great. A little rusty, a little tired, but still he really looked fired up again and that's all I wanted. We got glimpses of the old Pau again: excited, aggressive, and willing to work and to fit in. I loved it.

I'm not sure why he didn't close the game. I think that was a mistake by D'Antoni. Pau should close the game alongside Kobe, Metta, Howard, and Nash when he's healthy. With Nash hurt it should be Meeks.

Re: Pau Gasol Discussion: back starting tonight (12/18) - pg241

Postby Armani on Wed Dec 19, 2012 10:33 am

Pau Gasol returned to the Los Angeles Lakers' lineup after missing eight games due to knee tendinitis. Gasol had 10 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks in the Lakers' win over the Bobcats.

"I don't find (playing with Howard) tough," Gasol said. "It's more the system right now that makes it tough at times, because (D'Antoni) wants four guys to be spread and one interior guy and it's a guard-oriented system, so that makes it tough.

"I think there's enough looks for both of us. But again, it's not a system that you post up a lot, so we'll see. We've just got to figure it out, but if you've got two great post-up players, you've got to utilize it."

"It's Pau who has to expand his game, and he'll expand out in the corner threes and he needs to take a couple, and we'll get him in the post when we can," D'Antoni said, emphasizing those last three words.

This just isn't going to work... D'Antoni expects Rashard Lewis-like player at that position, not Pau.
