Phil Jackson Interview on HBO Real Sports

Do y'all think he has something left to give? Would he last an entire NBA season?

Damn you Phil, that last question was a great question, it deserved a great answer of YES! And to the Lakers.

Phil is the man. I think he'll come back eventually. I miss him already, and that actually doesn't have anything to do with Brown. I just miss seeing Phil on the bench as well as his press conferences.

Vid's pretty old actually, it's link was posted here 4 months ago and discussed:

lakers-discussion/phil-implies-bynum-growing-offensive-role-hurt-the-lakers-t134708.html

Phil could coach a couple more years but no way we he do it unless the situation was stellar, (Lakers, Miami, OKC). He isn't coming back here, not while Jim Buss is running things. Not even if they canned Brown. I don't see him in Miami under Riley either as he said and Brooks has a brand new 4 year deal in OKC. No, I think Phil is riding off into the sunset.

The Lakers certainly aren't the same without him. He always put his stamp on his teams...and it always seemed to me that his teams had more passion and more fun out there.

The team has just been a shell of itself since he left. :disagree:

I agree with you guys. I miss Phil enormously. He was the man. I was bummed some of our guys (Pau and LO) didn't play hard for him in that last postseason. Obviously we all wanted him to go out with number 12. I would freak out if we could ever get Phil to return. It would be one happy day. But given he and Jim's adversarial relationship I just don't see it happening. Also not sure about his health and if he'd be into giving this another go. But could you imagine him coming back to coach Kobe for his final years? That would be incredible. I can dream.

as much as we all want him back, it wont happen as long as jim buss is running this team

we all saw how he cleared the team of everything related to phil after he left, there's no way he'll coach this team again, and i honestly can't see him coaching any team for that matter. with as many accomplishments as he has, i think he's done. he's accomplished everything and more that anyone could dream of

The cane. The slow walk. :man6: Dammit. Phil is like a grandfather to me. :man10:

It's CRAZY to see his life like this.

From the Staples Center in downtown LA to hanging around with a bunch of toddlers at your lakeside property.

My dad had the same surgery, actually on both of his knees and now he is up and around. But with his knee surgery, there is a 50/50 chance. If he is on the lucky side of the 50%, I can see him coming back. At first I thought it was some other illness/conditions, but if it is just the knee, and he is lucky, then he will be back. The questions are, which team? and when?

My fear is that he might need a second knee replacement surgery on his other knee, as with many people who suffers from one knee, they tend to damage the other knee too.

Wish he would come back for a couple more runs, instead we have potato head Brown :man6:

The area is stunning. We drive by Flathead Lake every year on the way to Canada and it's easy to see why he lives there. Phil's house is right off the main highway too, have to pull off and take a peak at his house next time.

Persuade him to come back while you're at it.

Looks beautiful and peaceful on his Montana property. I don't blame him wanting to live somewhat in seclusion from the busy city life. I'd trade LA congestion for that Montana lakeside in a minute if I didn't have to work my current career and collect a paycheck. But if I was didn't have to work to make ends meet?

I'd be gone in a flash. This isn't like back in the days without cable, Internet, cellphones, and satellite tv for entertainment.

Maybe I'm reaching right now but I think we can see why he's the best from this video. Plotting the next playoff run over there? This guy really is the Zen Master. He just seems in his own league.

Until this video I honestly thought Jackson was done coaching. I do think he'll make a return now, but after Kobe retires :man6:
