Phil still believes. I believe. If the Lakers only get to the 8th seed when the playoffs come, I believe they can wit it all. Rockets did it when they were in 7th place in '95. I know it's a different sport but hell, do it like the L.A. Kings did last year. A 8th place team winning it all. Go Lakers!

Too bad he's not telling the players face to face.. I'm sure this will still mean alot to the guys though.. Especially Kobe & Pau, & hopefully Dwight.

Phil is no miracle worker: he can't make lottery teams into championship contenders (see smush-kwame lakers). And with the way they're playing, they're definitely a lottery team.

Why give yourself such a headache when the end result is a major disappointment?

Maybe he should give kobe a call and ask him to donate half of his 30 mil as well. Since the lakers are under .500 and fans keep saying that things would be different had phil been here at the start, I guess it's safe to say that Phil was the sole reason for those 5 rings and not the players themselves (kobe included).

phil is a miracle worker in the fact that he coached a team with d-league talent aside from kobe and lamar in 05-06 and 06-07 and led them to the playoffs both times, with the '06 team coming seconds away from defeating one of the top seeds in phoenix

i can guarantee you if phil wasn't the coach, those teams would have been at best a 9-10 seed
