Playoff hopes: ESPN - 39-21 just to make 8th seed

2 months ago our hopes were to win a championship, now our hope is to just make the playoffs, lol!

not imo. wcf is the bar for disappointment to me. okc and miami are every bit as strong on paper, and they have more familiarity with their teammates and system.

in any case, whatever this is, right now, is...not what expected.

I'm really starting to have my worries about this team. Up till now, I've been on "wait and see" approach. Just don't see where we're improving.

I no longer see us getting a high seed, but perhaps if we can get healthy come playoff time we can make a run.

Pretty sad how everyone is jumping ship 1/5 of the season in. Nash's return changes EVERYTHING.

This team will absolutely make the playoffs, AND make some noise. It's not like we're getting blown out every night.

^We're missing the best pick and roll player in the world, who also happens to be the best shooter as well. It would be unfair to write this team off without seeing the final, and most important piece of the puzzle in action.

Getting one of the 1st 3 seed is already out of reach ... we'll most likely end up 5th or 6th ...

Man, I am so tempted to bring back that Hollinger thread where everyone was going nuts about him predicting we'd be the 4th seed.

Who would have thought that his prediction was way too optimistic! LOL!

right now 7th 8th at best. when nash gets back, hopefully soon, maybe better. but for now, were not gunna improve as a team if kobe keeps playing hero ball and not facilitating the whole game like he should. when he can take over sure go for it, but it shouldnt be right out the gate. getting others involved is key and when he has 6+ assists we win. its a fact.

Tonight Jamison was awesome and then the 2nd half he didnt get the ball once. kobe had him wide open for 3's twice and a fast break wide open too but decided to take it himself everytime.

Kobe hero ball when games get close isnt gunna do it. its too predictable for the D and easier to guard imo and the refs arent gunna give him calls every time down the floor even if he deserves them

i am sick of nash excuses...Dal is missing dirk,phi bynum,chi rose,ind granger...and they all have better score than us...and less talent than us...
this team will make play offs for sure but i dont know how far they can go...
with this attitude they might even lose in the first round...

Well if you guys are tired of the Nash excuse or whatever why don't you just stop watching? It sounds like many of you already gave up on the team. Listen, i'm frustrated too, but despite the struggles the team is still competing for the most part, we're still missing a big part of the team, and I think it's way to early to go into panic mode.

I still have this teams back, there's still a lot of season left.

i didnt give up...but i dont put all my hopes that nash will come and resolve all our problems...
i just wanted to say...there are other teams that are missing key players,who have less talent,and who had tougher schedule than us and they still have better or similar score...
this team havent beat any of top teams(we didnt even play them, except SA) but we shouldnt be losing to ind,sac,orl and hou...

If we miss the playoffs, it qualifies as one of the top 3 biggest failures in all of sports ever.

Please, we will definitely make the playoffs, I can't believe people here are ACTUALLY worried about that.

We don't have our starting PG, not even our backup PG...Once it all comes together with our full squad & it clicks we will be a force to be reckoned with. We still can't judge this team until they have all of their players available, at least their starting PG.

It all seems down at the moment, but this team is better than how they're playing, once they find out who they are & what they are doing, we will be rolling. Hard to picture, but that's why this is an 82 game season & not an 18 game season.

On a serious note, we WILL make the playoffs.

there is no way this will miss the playoffs

it's just a matter of whether it'll be a first or second round exit at this point

I mean yeah we look awful but...we're 18 freakin games in.....most of those w/o Nash and with Howard not 100%. Anything can happen. I have a hard time believing this team won't figure it out...

This team will make the playoffs. There is zero doubt in my mind. Now, how far we can get.... that's another story, and things may change soon after Nash comes back and the guys "gel" some more. We might be above average, good or even amazing. We'll see. But we're making the playoffs for sure. Kobe made playoffs with Smush, Luke and Kwame starting.
