2. K. Malone 36,928
3. M. Jordan 32,292
4. Chamberlain 31,419

22. C. Barkley 23,757
23. Kobe Bryant 23,354
24. R. Parish 23,334
25. A. Dantley 23,177

Is it something to do with players who began in the ABA being left off the list where Kobe is listed as 18th now?

thats ABA and NBA combined

Yes, because it IS the NBA. Basketball-reference has both lists separate and then combined, I think.

Playoff points and regular season points are seperate. Kobe is currently 10th all-time in playoff points scored. With a deep run in the playoffs he could end up in the top five.

1.Jordan-5,987
2.Abdul-Jabbar-5,762
3.O'Neal-5,121
4.Malone-4,761
5.West-4,457
6.Bird-3,897
7.Havlicek-3,776
8.Olajuwon-3,755
9.Magic Johnson-3,701
10. Bryant-3,686

I saw this during the game, and knew they must have announced that Kobe passed Parish. It's great to see that kind of connection and brotherhood.

Chuck has been a Kobe supporter but not much as of late. Maybe it's cuz his career points total is soon to be eclipsed by Mr. Bean Bryant :man1:

Huh? Since when has Chuck been a pro-Kobe guy?

Chuck was never a "Kobe supporter". In fact, he hates Kobe.

How is Kobe going to crack the top 5 for playoffs this year?

He has to average 50 point a game!

He can do it.

Just kidding, but trodgers is right, he could definitely get to the 6th spot.

He's a lock for #6. 211 points? He could get that in a series.

I actually assumed that we are going 16-0 in my calculation.

I honestly think we are going to lose 5 games, but let's just say 7 for the sake of argument.

Then Kobe has to average 35 a game, give and take on the wins and losses and Kobe's ppg, I guess it is realistic, even though I don't like the idea of Kobe having to score so much for us to win.

Postby therealdeal on Fri Apr 03, 2009 5:23 pm

There's 4 rounds and 4 games per round (at least) = 16 games. If Kobe averaged 25 PPG for 16 games he'd get : 400 points.

He needs 211 to tie BIrd.

Are you guys saying he'd have to average 35 to get to 6th or 5th? Or am I losing my mind?

Kobe could move u the playoff list for sure this year, Top 5 is possible, as long as we win it though that's all he cares about. Who knows he could put an AI and average 40 (or just about) in the entire playoffs up to the Finals.

Personally id like to see Kobe's scoring go down in the playoffs, fg% up, assists up, boards up, steals up, number of championships up.
And when its all said and done, Kobe will be the greatest of all time.
