Points: Kobe 4th All-Time; passes Wilt / MJ next

Kobe came into the league at 17, sitting on the bench most of his rookie year. Then he was in the shadow of Shaq as the #2 for a few years after that.

WHile Shaq and MJ may have hit these milestones in less years, Kobe did it at a younger age.

Kobe started seven of his first 150 games in the NBA and averaged 11.7 points and has averaged 27.4 points since. Kobe passed Dominique and moved into 10th place in fgm in the loss to Utah and needs 32 more makes to become the 10th player in NBA history to score 10,000 baskets.

Some other Kobe stats that some may find interesting:
44 more steals and he passes Magic to become the Lakers leader
30 more rebounds and he'll reach 6,000 for his career
143 more made ft and he'll pass Jordan for 4th on that career list

I kinda want Kobe to score less than 24 (but have the Lakers win in Philly) just so he can pass Shaq on Thursday on TNT (in Boston). :man9:

There's a real chance he won't break it in Philly. He hasn't been scoring very high lately.

Would be nice to see him break it on TNT.

I think he'll do it tonight but Lakers always find a way to lose on his milestones.

Congrats Kobe. I remember watching you back in '96, and while I knew you'd be special I had no idea just how great you'd be. Great performance after great performance. Keep em coming

I don't care what the naysayers say. This automatically cements him as a top 5 player.

Who's at #4 and how many more points to surpass him?

Congrats Kobe. Too bad they couldn't get a win tonight.

Yet as I watched him Monday, I could not help think how little it mattered and how right he is. He is not fading into the shadows. He does not know how to go out that way.[.]

Well, congrats to Kobe. He played well in the first half, but he pulled another one of his black/white acts. He plays extremely well in one half only to miss everything in the other half.

I'll manage to care about this crap when Kobe is retired. Win the damn game, make the damn play. Hero ball made me sick to my stomach tonight.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

Apparently it looked like that was his goal for the night. After he passed Shaq he was basically a no-show besides one highlight layup.

He was doubled in the 1st half as well. He was more of a willing passer in the 1st half while in the 2nd half he got caught up trying to do it himself and got caught up battling Iguodala.
