Hah, that list is so screwed. He'll definitely sneak into the top-5.

iverson was the focal point of the offense when he got to Philadelphia, Kobe averaged 8 points a game his rookie season, and 17 the next, so for Kobe to only be about 800 points behind is impressive.

Kobe only avg. 11.7pts combined his first two years in the league, so his climb up the list is impressive. If he continues to score at his 27ppg. average he will pass Barkley and finish the season as the 17th leading scorer in NBA history. Sometime next season he should pass Kareem and Jerry West and become the Laker with the most points scored

Kareem scored 24,176 points for the Lakers, not including the points he scored with the Bucks. Jerry West leads the Lakers franchise in points scored.

West: 25,192
Abdul-Jabbar: 24,176
Baylor: 23,149
Bryant: 23,136

As far as the all-time Laker scoring list, yes. He could do it next year.

Kobe would need 15,252 points between now and next season to pass Kareem. That is highly unlikely - understatement.

He isn't talking about the All-Time scoring list. He is talking about the Laker scoring list. Kobe is 4th. He would only need 2,000 points from now till the end of next season to pass Kareem on that list.

I am talking about Lakers franchise history, Kareem also played with the Bucks and scored 14,211 points with them.

For Kareem, that points scored as a Laker, not overall points. For points scored with one team, Karl Malone owns that record.

BTW, I find it interesting that Shaq could make it into the top 5 by the end of the season though 4th place is likely beyond him.

Kobe could crack the top 10 by the end of next season if he continues his current pace and does not miss any games. And get close to the top 5 by the end of the 2010-11 season (depending on where Shaq is at).
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

All Shaq would have to do is continue to score his 17ppg and he would move into 5th place on the all-time scoring list at seasons end.

It's almost guaranteed that Kobe will pass Laker great Elgin Baylor on the all-time scoring list tonight against the T'Wolves. I guess the title will be changed accordingly. Also, Kobe will finally BREAK INTO THE TOP 20!

by the end of june if we are in the finals ..1125 if Kobe avg 25 over the next 45 games play-offs included..( undefeated) lol..add that to his current

24261...right under Pat Ew...he should pass Alex eng nex year..9 thou away from MJ..

Regular season and playoff points scored are two seperate categories. Kobe is 10th all-time in playoff scoring with 3,686 points.
