I thought he was doubled more in the second half. He didn't shoot that much in the third. It's just when that 4th quarter comes around, you know what's going to happen. It's Kobe-time, and he was off as hell.

Congrats to Kobe, but his terrible play in the 4th quarter cost us the game.

That's kinda the problem. Even if he's had a terrible half he'll come out in the 4th thinking HE has to make all the plays. Drew was a monster all night. Woulda made more sense to dump it down low and get some easy opportunities.

Seriously guys? Say congrats to the man and move on. Take the hate to the Kobe Discussion Thread, not a thread where we can praise him passing some of the greatest of all time.

Big ups Kobe. :jam2:

Passed the Big blob...... now on to the "Bid Dipper"..... then MJ, Karl and maybe even Kareem.

Realistically I think he'll get Wilt and MJ and even maybe Karl but I'm not so sure he can get Kareem. This shortened season really hurt his chances...... He will need 3 seasons at around 25 to have a chance at Karl and a couple more at around 16 to get Kareem....

It is a very cool milestone to achieve, especially when he still has at least 2 or 3 years left where he will probably still be able to score 20+ppg. I think he realistically does have a chance to become the all-time leader, but it's tough to say. One serious new injury could basically retire him early given his history of many minor-moderate injuries.

Still, very cool to see.

[Sarcasm] I agree, let's sacrifice the season so Kobe can climb as high as possible on the scoring ladder.[/Sarcasm]

Seriously, I'd prefer Laker wins.

From Shaq via Twitter:

Congrats to Kobe for being the greatest laker ever thanks for making us the greatest laker one two punch ever and congrats on passin me up 2

After the game O’Neal also told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith how much he respected Bryant and appreciated what he has done during his career.

“I want to personally congratulate Kobe on being the greatest Laker ever. His accomplishment is great and well deserved, and I’m really proud of him. He told me when he was 18 years old that he’d go down as the greatest Laker ever, and one of the greatest players of all time. And he wasn’t lying.”

Pretty classy.

ha ha, exactly how i've been feeling about it...its hard to know if he is being serious or genuine and truly regrets what happened in the past - or he simply is sucking up to the Lakers lol its a tough one??

It's almost possible that Kobe could finish the season breaking 30,000. He's on pace for about 1900 maybe 2000 points, which would come short by a little bit, but if he had some huge games(50+) it would probably be doable.

If it weren't for the shortened season he'd easily clear the 30k mark. If he can do it again next year(~29ppg) he should be able to pass MJ then, but it'd be close, and for all we know this could his last time he outputs at this level for a whole season. Hell, for all we know he could cool off this season and finish with ~26-28ppg instead of ~30ppg.

I have watched the local news and national news last night and today, and they keep reporting that "Kobe made history". Correct me if I am wrong, but if there are 4 others who have also scored that number of points, is it really historic? Nothing against Kobe and his amazing accomplishments, but more a comment on the sensationlization of news these days.
